Scugog Island News by Mrs. Earl Reader While lunch was being prepared Jan Gerrow with helpers explained from the following reading how a special Sunday Service could be coming up. It's called "No Excuse Sunday" (What do you think of it?) To make it possible for everyone to attend Church, we will call prior to *'No Excuse Sunday." Cots will be placed in the Foyer for those who say - 'Sunday is my only day to sleep in." Murine will be available for those who have red eyes from watching T.V. too late on Sat. evening. We will have steel helmets for those who say, "the roof will cave in if I ever come to Church." Blankets will be furnish- ed for those who think it is too cold, fans for those who think it is too hot. We will have hearing aids for those who say they can't hear the minister and cotton for those who think he is too loud. Score cards will be available for those who wish to list all the hypocrites pre- sent. Some relatives will be present for those who like to go visiting on Sun- days. There will be T.V. dinners for those who can't go to church and cook the Sunday dinner. One section will have grass and trees for those who wish to 'commune with nature." The church will be decorated with both Christmas Poinset- tias and Easter lilies for those who have never seen the church without them. First of all, Gordon Brown with all the leaders and boys wish to thank the people for their "co-operation in the paper drive on Sat. I guess they were out too early for some of you. Believe me, these boys are on their toes. We are sorry to have to report the passing of our beloved former minister, Rev. J.K. Braham, Sun- day June 2 in Muskoka where he has lived the last few years. Mr. Cliff Love is now "more comfortable with life in the Fairview Lodge at Whitby. We are pleased to report that Mr. Love's grandson Blain Paton is now in the Port Perry Hospital where he can have visits from more friends. But he still has a long road to go with patience and en- durance before he can hope for complete recovery from his accident. Then on Sat. June 15, just across from the Island Museum Church, perhaps 11 to 4 p.m. you may purchase household and other items at the home of Ruth and Orval Heayn (not Arnold, that is the name of their son and also Ruth's maiden name). We hear they are leaving us again on July 1 and moving out west to be near sons, Arnold and Bruce with their families. This is farther away than Kingston was and I'm sure they will be leaving many rich memories. On June 18 not 21 there is an evening luncheon at the Museum for a group from Peterborough. Well, it won't be long until Pioneer Days and Strawberry Supper time rolls around so watch for further details. On Wed. evening 13 members met at the home of Anne Alstein for the "Head"' U.C.W. The Devotional under the direction of Betty Reader's group con- ducted a study on "Sharing." One resulting action of immediate attention was a decision to send a dona- tion for the tornado vic- I HH HH HE I HH HHI rr. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 11, 1985 -- 15 tums at Barrie. Our president, Pat Henshaw who had been a very loyal and dedicated worker informed us that she would be unable to finish her year in office because of additional family responsibilities and the beginning of a music teaching career. It was therefore necessary to make some plans to finish the year. The group in charge of devotions each month will choose a past presidnt from their group to conduct that month's meeting. This chairperson will plan an agenda for the meeting | There's no excuse on No Excuse Sunday in touch with the secretary who will be a contact person for the rest of the year.
