They will be one of twenty choirs competing for the National title. Both The Senior Wind Ensemble recently returned from their concert tour to New York City where they enter- tained the students of Martin Luther High School. This was a school built to hold 5000 students and covered an Jazzmerize and the Senior Wind Ensemble performed last week at the Port Perry High School annual "Summer Breeze." he 23rd annual _-- of the Bay of Quinte Conference U.C.W. was held recent- ly at St. Paul's United Church, Perth. The theme for this event was Revival, Renewal, and Revitaliza- tion. Rev. Ted Da ey of Kingston Road nited Church, Scarborough, addressed the convention on this subject using sketches and paintings which he had done. In his three addresses, Rev. Davey emphasized our relationship with Jesus Christ. In his charcoal sketch of Jesus washing Peter's feet both subjects were muscular but the strength depicted was Broadway play, toured the Lincoln Centre for the per- forming Arts, Rockefeller Centre, Radio City Music Hall and lower Manhattan. They represented Port Perry well with their fine music and excellent deportment. Renewal theme for conference not in muscle but in the will to live the love of God. Mr. Davey had painted a large picture of Christ be.oce Pilot. The marks of beating were evident and he was wearing a crown of thorns but he stood quietly, still a lov- ing caring Lord. He had a strength of purpose which compelled him to do what he did. How can we find such inner strength? Rev. Davey outlined the method of creating a breath prayer which is readily available in a moment of challenge or crisis. The speaker concluded his remarks by stating, "Jesus is a powerful resource available at all times. We must use this resource." On Tuesday evening Rev. Davey again ad- dressed the convention. He stated that when Jesus is a part of our life we are revitalized and renewed. Christ left his disciples as splendid ex- amples for us to follow. The speaker again us- ed his artistic talents to assist him. He had painted a very moving picture of Mary, the mother of Jesus with the crucified Christ in her arms at the foot of the Cross. Jesus was aware of the agony and pain his friends, and particularly his mother, would ex- perience but he could not settle for a reduced ver- sion; he had to complete his mission. If we are to follow Christ we must take up issues; crosses. We can do no less. In his concluding ad- dress Rev. Davey displayed a painting of the empty tomb. The speaker noted that the women were the first to bring the news of the risen Christ to the other apostles. Christ rolls the stone away from our times of trouble, sorrow, defeat or illness which often en- case us like a tomb but Christ is able to roll the stone away and walk with us. The love of Christ has to involve others. If the church is to grow it must be a caring community. Rev. Davey noted that our missionaries are among the best in their work of building roads, bridges, hospitals and schools. They make fan- tastic use of the money at their disposal. Christ is calling us as we support the Mission and Service fund. Through the efforts of Mrs. Linda Jewell of Trenton many lively Sing Alongs were enjoyed which included hymns as well as new songs to familiar tunes. Mrs. Gwen Wentland of Eganville very ably chaired the meeting. Thirteen members of Lindsay Presbyterial at- tended the Conference. All the past-presidents of Conference were honoured, one of them being Mrs. Vina Neal of Lindsay Presbyterial. THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF air A ELT om set rms entire city block.
