Crawford Anniversary Services This Sunday May 19 at 11:00 am. Guest Speaker Rev. C. Clark of Port Perry Special Music Tr aa haa Mothers special people Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Mother's Day Thought Trust Mother's Day this past Sunday was a very meaningful day. Mothers possess incredi- ble wisdom and each one has a wonderful insight and skill. In each human heart is that special cor- - ner which only a Mother can fill. She is a chef - a homemaker - a repair- man - a nurse - a teacher - a gardener - and best of all she's God's greatest invention - and someone who loves you. All of this - plus much, much more! Cartwright Goes Over The Top The total proceeds for ~ the Cancer Drive in April - for the Township of Cartwright amounted to $4,733.80 which is quite an increase over last year. Some 65 can- vassers were on the job calling from door to door under the leadership of Captain Pat Sleep. The Society appreciates the tremendous effort put forth by each and every volunteer once again - a fine success! Nestleton United Church Sunday was family day with a large con- gregation at Nestleton United. Those extending a welcome at the door were Norm and Bernice Mairs and many newcomers were greeted. Ralph Sadler very efficiently opened the service and read the Scripture. Our minister, Rev. Dale Davis, had his "'special" time with the children before they went to classes. In keep- ing with Mother's Day, the choir sang "Faith of Our Mothers' with Janice MacKenzie tak- ing a portion as a solo. Rev. Dale Davis based his fine message on *'All In The Family." Assisting in the nursery were Minnie Ayling and Claire MacKenzie. We welcome to the church Alenna MacLeod and children Dayna and Jada of Nestleton village. Do trust we'll see them soon again. Keep in mind the Manse committee meeting this coming Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. at the Manse. Hall Board Brunch A Success Many enjoyed Brunch after Church at the Nestleton Community Centre sponsored by the Hall Board. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Handicraft Display Of Interest Several from the Cart- wright area attended the magnificant display of handicrafts displayed by the Louise Patterson Handicraft Guild held in St. John's Presbyterian Church, Port Perry this past Friday and Satur- day. It was a feast for the eyes and those who miss- ed it - lost out! Some items were for sale. The members have worked long hours to produce the handicrafts and deserve much credit! After browsing - tea and a variety of breads were enjoyed. Caesarea Euchre Party The weekly Euchre held in the Caesarea Cen- tre Wednesday evening brought forth the follow- ing results. First prize - Owen Gray - 80. Second prize - a tie - with Faith Lawrence and Kathleen Watts each having 76. Third prize went to' Henry Visser with a 4. Next week as per usual, for an interesting game of cards. Caesarea Community Church A very fine company of people for family Sunday and four children were Baptised by Rev. W.H. Crawford D.D. Terry and Heather Asseltine sponsored by their grandparents. Stacey Lynne - daughter of Ralph and Eleanor Wilson, and Janessa - daughter of Dana and Cecile Gibbons. The minister spoke on Bap- tism - his theme entitled "A Believing Mother" bringing forth the thought that she must have faith and set a good example for her children, taken from Luke 1: 45. Jerry Jonkheer Jr. played for the service. Caesarea Community Church will celebrate the 3rd anniversary next Sunday, May 19. It re- opened its doors on the 3rd Sunday in May, 1982, - warmest congratula- tions. Rev. Charles Clarke of Prince Albert will be the guest speaker. Try and attend! A cor- dial welcome awaits you oro 68 Water Street, Port Perry - at this friendly little church. Appreciation Extended - The citizens of Caesarea wish to thank Alan and Shirley Fove for their efforts in beauti- fying their village. Last fall they planted 200 bulbs at the flower bed at Putsey Park and the Fire Hall, dividing them bet- ween the two locations. Due to their work they have had a beautiful showing of flowers this Spring for the enjoyment of the residents. Shirley is area director of the Beautification commit- tee and Alan gave her much needed assistance. We do commend them! Family Visitations During the week Lawrence Armstrong of Lindsay area was a visitor with Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farmstead. Nice to have a visit with Lawrence and catch up on family news. On Mother's Day, Alan and Eleanor Cawker of Oshawa were afternoon tea guests. Delighted to see them looking so fit after their trip to Western Canada. Shirley Love's parents, Rex and Grace Rowsell of Scarborough have been spending a few days with Alan and Shirley at their home in Caesarea and were present for Mother's Day - a special time for families. Audrey Leishman of Reaboro, attended the Family Day Service at Nestelton United Church on Sunday with her mother Mrs. Neta Fish. Lovely to see Audrey again. Scout News On May 25th, the Cart- "wright Scouts will be having a bottle drive which takes in Caesarea, Nestleton and Blackstock. More infor- mation next week. Best Wishes So glad to see Dave Vi- vian of Nestleton home and looking better - he has had a lengthy so- journ in the hospital and we trust for better health for him when he has had a chance to recuperate. He was able to enjoy the Pancake Brunch with wife Carol at Nestleton Centre on Sunday. Sympathy We were indeed sad- /dened to hear of the death of Ethel Dodd of Port Perry.
