The windows all busted and the hinge off the door, And Jack Frost a heavin' clean yp through the floor; With the stanchions all empty where the cat- tle once stood, wood. The big kitchen is silent where the thresherman dined, And the stair all busted where the children once climbed; : The rooms where once they did holler and play, Now hangs in cobwebs and smells of decay. This farm once raised a family and sent them to school, Fed them and clothed them and taught them the rule; For too long they've been telling us that big- - ger is best, Now there is just five percent left to feed all the rest. : And the boys down on Bay Street and Ottawa Town, - Just can't wait to see that last farmer down; Then the corporations and bureaucrats will run the big show, | And God only knows how high food prices will go. For they tried it in Russia and it just doesn't work, To try to do the farming with a corporate jerk For the world's best food producer and I hope they soon understand, You just can't beat that guy on the land.
