Last but not least, ladies do not forget our Spring Fair being held Saturday, April 28th at 2 p.m. in the Latcham Cen- tre. So come and enjoy a pleasant afternoon, with lots of things to buy or look at. After the meeting clos- ed, lunch was served by Bea and Bonnie. This is the second year the Chamber of Com- merce has been inyolved "with this program and last year, 11 young peo- ple received loans to help "them in businesses as varied as raising chickens to cutting lawns. The loan program is designed not only to help students make some money this summer, but also to give them a grounding in sound business practises such as budgeting and cash flow projections. One young business- man who took advantage of the loan last year is Stephen Patterson, a 17 year old Port Perry High School student. He bor- rowed to buy a garden , lawn tractor, lined up enough contracts to keep himself busy all sum- mer, made enough to re- pay the loan totally and still had money in his bank account at the end of the year. He says he's going to take another loan this year to buy a bigger tractor. The only restrictions on the loans, which are guaranteed by the pro- vincial government, is that a person must be over 15 years of age and be returning to full time school in September. Of course, the full value of the interest free loan must be re-paid by Oc- tober 1. If you think you could take advantage of this, contact Bill Barr with the Chamber of Commerce at 985-3855, and fill out an application.
