Mr. and Mrs. Herb Thomas of Markham were Sunday supper guests with Betty and Norman Tapscott. John and Joanne Hansen and Sarah of Markham, also Barbara and John Barfoot and Coleen of Ashburn were Sunday guests with Mrs. Evelyn Hansen. Birth- day greetings to John Barfoot on Monday. Members of Bethdsda Reach W.1. have tickets for sale for their Spring Luncheon at Friendship Hall, Trinity United Church Uxbridge April 16th. Also note Thursday 25 of April will be the an- nual Spring Beef Dinner at Utica Hall. Sponsors are Epsom-Utica U.C.W. Tickets available. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wat- son and children of Scar- Birthday wishes to borough visited their parents Archie and Jen- nie Watson on Sun. . Visitors with Howard and Ruth Ashton last week were Betty Tapscott, Carson Watson and Heddy Lefebvre. Sunday visitors with Jean and Gordon Jeffery were daughter Yvonne, granddaughter Heather and great grandchildren Nicholas and Karley of Oshawa. Easter at Epsom Church was quite memorable. The Good Friday morning service was well attended after the service or church family enjoyed lunch together. The Sunday Service was a Cantata perform- ed by our choir. The Van Veghel family sang together, also Ginny played her flute and sang with brother Jason. Also much appreciated was Cathy Baster's flute ac- compaiment for her father's solo. A thanks to one and all for a very fine service. A welcome home to Ashburn Area News by Mrs. E. Heron The attenaance was up at Church School last Sunday morning which began with the song 'Because He Lives I Can Face Tomorrow." Three ladies were wished Hap py Birthday, Chrissie McKinney, Ruth Oliver and Barbara Porter by the singing of a special Birthday song. Seven beautiful Easter lilies were placed at the front of the Santuary for the morning service. There was a good atten- dance and the choir loft was overflowing. The Jr. choir sang two numbers, Amazing Grace and You Can Smile. Dr. Moore's Easter message was taken from 1st Corinthians, 'Celebrations and Jubilation."" The Sr. = choir sang "He Lives' with Florence Ashton singing the solo part. The Scriptures were read by Ron Ashton and Bill Burgess. Next Sunday will be a special missionary ser- vice when Rev. Murray Garvin, a former mis- sionary in Tawain will be the speaker. Easter Sunday visitors with Barb and Ray Porter and family were Mr. and Mrs. Michel Leclers of Agincourt, Miss Barbara Humphrey of Toronto and they spent the weekend at her home here. We welcome Mr. and Mrjs. Sid Emm home again after they spent the winter in Florida. Mrs. Ruth Purdy of Mono Mills was a guest Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson who have return- ed home from their Florida home last week. Now for birthdays last week - greetings to Darlene Christie and Ross Bailey; We sang Happy Birthday to Cathy Baster on Friday at the Church luncheon just a day to soon for Mrs. Asl- ing who celebrated on Sat. Kelly Lee Ann Hill also had a birthday. There was a surprise birthday party for Beth Wilson who just entered the magic thirties. The friends on the 7th Con. met at the home of God and Jill Postma to ex- tend their greetings. Happy 30th also to Don Simmonds. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Catherwood and boys of Oshawa were weekend guests with Howard and Ruth Ashton. Richard Ashton and Heather Bell were Easter Sunday dinner guests wtih his grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ashton. Dr. Jerrold Asling, Joan and girls of Hanover were with hi parents, Don and Stell: Asling for the weekenc All had a birthday luncl with Doug and Florence Ashton and sons over the Easter holid;ay. Miss Isabel McCrorie of St. Catherines was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burgess and Martha over the weekend. Isabel was born in Beaverton and it was nice having her visit this area again. Visitors with Ted and Rose Heron on Easter Sunday were Drew and Faye Leaper and son Ian; of Mississauga, Brian' and Lenore Lowes of Pickering, Bill and Doris Mcandless, Scott, Karen and Linda of Don Mills and Bruce Davis of Scarborough. Miss Hilda Hopkins spent a day last week in Toronto visiting with Mr. Jim Hanley. Guests with Hilda and Walter Hopkins on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lynde and Irene Day of - Uxbridge. Easter dinner guest: with Walter and Elve Kerry were Mrs Margaret Stearman of Edmonton, her son Bill his wife Betty and their children of Ingersoll. Donna, Paul and Mark Kerry were all home from College for the holidays. Elva's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stear- man of Port Perry. Sat. evening Walter and Elva Kerry attended the 40th anniversary of the Uxbridge Junior Farmers at Udora Hall. Jill and Gord Postma were Sat. dinner guests with Faye and Keith Ashton. My big Easter wish is that our newer neighbours would give me a ring and tell me their news please. three A good time was had by all 9 tables of euchre at the party last Thurs- day evening. The win- ners of 1st prizes were Ir- ma Wood and Bill Hodgins, 2nd prizes went to Verna Draper and Jack Skelding. Ken Whit- tington got the most lone Where's the heat? It never melts but it snows, or so the story goes. At any rate, Rob Kroonenberg (of Emiel's Place fame) was all set for a little April sunshine down at the beach but instead of rays, all he caught was a cold -- thanks to the unseasonal white stuff that fell last week. | 4 Not to worry though, Rob. With the ice on Lake Scugog all but gone, 3 it'll be no time at all before warm weather is here to stay. > hands and also won the 50/50 draw and Murray Geer won the door prize.
