BANTAM Emmerson's In- surance won the league championship with a 4-3 win over Cochrane Trot- ters on Saturday morn- ing in a close well played game. Emmersons took a.2-0 lead after one period of play, in a hard fought first period that saw both teams check and skate, until Emmersons scored first on a shot from the blue line by John Not- tingham - then on a close in play, Chris Logan scored to give the Rewrites the lead Crissone assisting. In the second period both teams kept up their close checking play, with the horsemen opening up the scoring on a breakaway pass from Slack to Jeff Beddome - Darcy Head came right back to after taking a rink wide pass from Da- wayne Leask - Score after two periods of play 3-1 Emmersons. The Horsemen threw everything they had in probably the best played period of hockey this year by both teams. But Emmersons prevailed in the end to win 4-3. Jim Vernon who scored both goals for Cochranes in the third, with Mike Haines assisting on one. David Irvine scored the lone goal by Emmersons. Congratulations boys, the winners and the run- ners up in a well-played final See you next year. PEE WEE After five months of 7 and 8 o'clock games we finally have a Pee Wee House League Champion. Larocque Electric and W. Frank Real Estate locked horns Saturday morning in their 2nd game of a 2 out of 3 with Larocque up 1 game to nothing. W. Frank in a do or die situation came out with a full head of steam and opened the scoring with only 3 minutes gone in the 1st period. Alec Crammer notched the opener on an assist from Paul Kett. Four minutes later Crammer came Sportsland prevails for Mens championship B.J. Donuts came away with the "B" divi- sion championship by defeating J&D. Carpen- try 3-2. Sportsland took the "A" division champion- ship with a convincing 4-0 victory over Crandell's Riverboat. B.J. Donuts took a 2 goal lead in the first period on goals by Ran- dy Logan assisted by Ron Hoogeboom, Reg -Templeman, Mike Fit- zgerald and Ritchie LeFort. J&D came back in the second period to tie the game at 2 on goals by Bob Tarbotton and Joe Curran. Assists to Dan Carty and John Delorme. Only 1 goal was scored in the third period from the stick of Ron Davis, assisted by Ron Hoogeboom. Final score B.J. Donuts - 3, J&D Carpentry - 2. Sportsland's triple threat showed why their team was the league champions and the "A" division champions, as Dave Bourgeois, Ken Smart and John Foster compiled 9 points in this game to skate away with a 4-0 victory over back to score his second with an assist going to Paul Tatomier. With 3 minutes gone in the 2nd, Larocque struck back with an unassisted goal by Tim Fulford. With 2 minutes left in the 2nd, Larocque struck again with a tying goal, again unassisted by Lee Phillips. This set the stage for a possible 3rd game for the afternoon. Unfortunately for Frank this was not to be as Larocque popped in a goal early in the 3rd with Lee Phillips getting credit for the goal with an assist going to Mark Tomkiewicz. Both teams are to be congratulated by an excellent game and series. Special men- tion goes to Tu Connell and Brian Madill for the great goaltending they gave their teams. Pee Wee B's split Uxbridge hosted a very well organized Pee Wee hockey tournament on Saturday, March 30. The Stone Real Estate Pee Wee B's met Ux- bridge early in the day. Port was on the board first in an unassisted goal by Captain Graham Sullivan. Uxbridge responded with two quick goals before Adam Cummings tied the game assisted by John Ennis. Uxbridge came back in the second period with another goal before Port netted three more in a row. Scott Menzies scored on a passing play from Sullivan and Brett Puckrin. The newly formed forward line of Sullivan, Menzies and Aaron Cochrane worked well for the Stone boys With 38 seconds remain- ing in the second period Adam Cummings scored with assists going to En- nis and Greg Fitzgerald Our defensemen Kevin Mantel, Chris Forder, Phil Teno, Brett Puckrin and Troy McCully work- ed hard to defend our one goal lead. Late in the third period Ryan Free put it away for Port on an unassisted effort. Final score Port 5, Uxbridge 3. The second game was an exciting match against Unionville. Although Port seemed to out play the opposition they weren't meant to win as the tying goal was not seen by the referee. Port's lone goal came from Scott Menzies assisted by Graham Sullivan. Cole Perry and Doug Adams worked hard in the corners and David Talbot and David Buxcey shared the goaltending. Final score Unionville 2, Port 1.
