Heron The annual meeting of Burns Church was held last Friday night and began with a delicious pot luck dinner. After the men had so nicely done the dishes, everyone gathered for the meeting. Much thanks is due to Ruth Oliver who brought a projector and films to show the children while the meeting was going on. Rev. McEntyre chaired the meeting and Margaret Davis was elected secretary. All those working in the several branches were duly thanked and Barbara Porter Presi- dent of the Kirk Guild had some good sugges- tions for activities that the whole church could be involved in. There were also other sugges- tions from the members. Rev. McEntyre stated that he was pleased with the work of all the organizations but we must remember in all our worth while busyness that Jesus Christ is the head of our church and our lives that everything we do is to His Honour and Glory. Because of a bad storm especially in Whit- by, the guests for the Kirk Guild was unable to come to the meeting last Tuesday evening, but has promised to come at a later date. The meeting was 'held anyway and business was reviewed and discussed. The officers for the coming year were elected and installed by Jean McEntyre. Presi- dent Barbara Porter, Vice-President Margaret Davis, Secretary Joan Fleming, Treasurer Margaret Burgess, members are Nor- ma Ingleton, Phyllis Oliver, Muriel Fisher, Lois Daw, Rita David- chuch, Jean Johnston, Moyra Griffin and Earlene Young. A social time was spent over the tea cups. The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. was held last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Lois Daw, with ten members pre- sent. The president, Ber- nice Gardner conducted the meeting, and gave an "account of the annual meeting of the Lindsay Presbyterial last month. Ray Death gave th study which was a chapter from the study book "The Parables are a Mirror". These studies take a lot of serious study and Ray gave us a very clear picture of three parables. And also gave us each a printed sum- mary of her talk to take home, that we might be able to reread and think about it. In spite of a very cold night last Thursday six tables of euchre players turned out at the com- munity centre. The first prize went to Nancy Skelding and Bill Hodgins, the second prizes went to Wyn Hastie and Jack Skelding, Violet Cole and Greta Halsey. The 50, ,0 draw was won by Mary Housego. The next euchre party will be held on Feb. 21st. GREAT SAVINGS ON COTTAGE, HOME AND FARM MATERIALS PACKAGES TOO! KITCHEN CABINET HARDWARE Revitalize your kitchen with quality hardware from Amerock. I'm sure everyone that remembers the old church will be thinking this week about 18 years ago when the church was burned on February 12th. Last Sunday morn- ing at Burns Church was Boy Scouts and Cubs day when they marched with their leaders to the Rev. McEntyre had an appropriate message for the day and Arnold Ashton and Rev. McEn- tyre sang a lovely duet written by John Lennon called "Imagine" which gg were ready by Daniel Wright, Mathew Davidchuk and Scout Leader Brian Men did dishes (!) at pot luck dinner Irvine. Next Saturday the cubs are going on a winter hike with their leaders Jackie wright and George Spall. They will meet at the artesian well on Durham 23 and go to the Kiwanis Camp and cook their own lunch. It sounds like a fun time. 100 CARS In Stock Rev. McEntyre began a series of studies on the subject "The Way of Jesus" last Sunday even- ing. It will continue next Sunday evening at 7:30 PHILP P.M. Everyone is welcome to attend.
