So if you know of interested demonstrators or items for display, tell any member and it will be on. We learned that a choir concert is being planned for Apr. 19 and 20 in the Community Hall. We sure have the talent on the Island, so why not? too, many friends from . other areas are always anxious to help. We extend our sym- pathy to John Beckett and Edna as John's sister from Bowmanville Blackstock news (From page 11) for the benefit of the community. The In- stitute will decide on the basis of public interest which of the following courses to organize: Favourites From Your Freezer, Sewing For Your Child, or Wise Money Management. The freezer course is a one meeting instruction while the other two would take three meetings. These courses would be available to the public so if anyone is in- terested please contact Mrs. H. Martyn as to which course would be of interest and if daytime or evening would be preferred. It was decided to send a small cheque to the 0.N.O. for the yearly use of dishes at the Rec Cen- tre. New table cloths will be made by Mrs. J. Kristensen in the In- stitute colours to brighten the monthly meetings. Mrs. L. This past week I received a letter from a former resi- dent of Blackstock, Mrs. Alberta (Riches) Plum of Edmonton. Nelson and Betty Reader returned on Sat. from a 2 week vacation to California when they visited with Betty's sister and some of her family. You may think ¥4 to 10 is early in the morning for church at the Island United but if you are there at 8 a.m. or later next Sunday, the ladies of the 'Friendship' U.C.W. will serve you~ with a 'lovely pancake breakfast and you may leave a little donation to help cover expenses. Then you'll be ready for the weekly church service. Please try to attend a Congregatinal meeting at Scugog United Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and bring all your ideas and sugges- tions re proposed building needs to include washrooms, office and possibly more needed space as time goes on and the Church grows as it is doing at the present time. As you know, a building fund has already been started and donations are always appreciated.
