2 SF ii AAS { Seagrave and Area News by Marilyn Beacock With an abundance of that white fluffy stuff that arrived late last week all the winter sports enthusiasts will certainly be having a ball! Following a valiant struggle with a terminal disease that included various forms of treat- ment as well- as bone marrow transplant doctors at the Hospital for Sick Children lost their fight to save the life of Miss Shelley Skelton of Richmond Hill. The community was saddened to learn of the loss of such a promising young life and we extend our deepest sympathy to her parents, John and Isabel Skelton (nee Dur- ward) her sisters, Jennifer and Jody and to the other members of the Durward and Skel- ton families. Since the discovery of the body of little Christine Jessop was found only a few miles north of this village parents are betoming more concerned about the whereabouts of their children. Block Parents have been an impartant factor in the city and its suburbs but since this type of crime no longer 'seems to be found in the city core many mothers feel that we have a need for this same kind of protection out in the country as well hence a Block Parent Assoc- iation has been farmed that will include the villages of Greenbank, Epsom, Utica, -Saint- field and Seagrave. Applications will be provided to those people who wish to become Block Parents. For further information or for application forms 'please contact Patty Williams at 985-2453. " chester. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Peel of Golden B.C. have been visiting with her father, Mr. Howey of Port Perry, and other friends in the area. Saturday Jan. 12th the doors of the community centre opened to about sixty people all friends of Bill and Joan Peel who are down on some holidays from British Columbia. This party was planned so every- one could get to see many old time friends, going back to when some had gone to school in the hall about 40 years ago. The evening was spent with lots of visiting, dancing to the music of D.J., our local disc jockey. Well done Dave. A most delicious food table closed off a perfect evening. As each one said their good bye's, you could hear lets do this again or why did we wait so long. This was sure a great way to start off a new year.
