THEIR CHANCES The MoJacks finished the regular schedule with 13 victories, three ties and 12.losses for 29 points in 28 games. They got off to a slow start, then put together a nine game undefeated streak, and finished up with three wins in their last four games. Of their 12 defeats, six were by one or two goals. In fact, the team only had three "bad" losses all season. Heading into the play- offs, the MoJacks have several players out with injuries and some may not see action again this season. Rob Malcolm has been lost since Christmas with knee problems; big Vaughan McKee is out with a shoulder injury; Jeff Duncan has back pro- blems; and Paul Butter- sorth has a gimpy knee. Kevin Trapp will not play again this season as he underwent surgery last week to remove a blod clot or the brain. The MoJacks have signed Wayne Snodden who played last year. He was in uniform for both weekend games and turned in pretty good efforts. He can 'score goals and is a tough checker. The scoring punch is provided by Brian Nicholson, but Scott Wallace is starting to turn the red light, Brad Flaxman can put the puck in the net and so can Jeff Johnstone and Paul Butterworth, if he's healthy. The MoJacks also have a scoring threat in their blue line corps of Bob Horton, Rob Nichol- son, Mike Ryan, Jeff McColl, and Rob Sedore, all of whom are mobile and offensive minded. ; If the MoJacks meet Little Britain, they will face a team which they defeated three out of four times this season. However, the Mer- chants are a tough hockey club capable of scoring goals. But the Merchants lost three games over the week- end, including an 8-0 pasting in Bowmanville Sunday night. The one weakness the MoJacks have had dur- ing the season is in their own end in moving the puck out quickly and failing to clear opposit- ion forwards from the front of the net. However, their power: play is strong, and there is no shortage of hustle from all players on the roster. If they continue tc get the solid goal- tending, their playoff chances appear pretty gooa \"inal Word Coach Bob Marquis had to watch from the sidelines ver the week- - "end as he was slapped 'with a two game suspen- sion as a result of the brawl a couple of weeks ago in Bowmanville. Gary Brethour handled the chores behind the bench. Jeff McColl, a strong blue line performer for the team also sat out two additional games fromthe Bowmanville punch- up, but he'll be back in uniform for the playoffs. x_n willl JULIE'S PET GROOMING SALON At the Port Perry Pet Shop 158 Queen Street, Port Perry 985-8065 or 985-8100 rm TE TE, -- The 10th Annual Royal Bank Mixed Club Bonspiel was held Ce Saturday in Port Perry with the Doug Russell (front left) rink win- ning thiree games and 44 points, good enough for top spot.
