20 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1985 by John B. McClelland Led by the almost unbelievable scoring exploits of Brian "Joe" Nicholson, the Port Perry MoJacks kept their fourth place hopes alive Sunday evening with a 10-6 victory over "the Uxbridge Bruins. Nicholson's contri- bution was a mere nine points - six goals and three assists - and put him right back in the thick of the race for the Central Junior C scoring championship. It is believed the nine points are the most ever scored by a MoJack in a single game. And the victory gives the team 25 points, two behind fourth place Lindsay and three behind Little Britain. This does not include the results of the MoJacks Monday night match in Cobourg. As the score might indicate, the game with Uxbridge at the Scugog Arena was hardly a defensive battle as the MoJacks opened up a 5-0 lead by the 3:54 mark of the second period, then kept the Bruins at bay for the remainder of the match. ~ Ken Harman turned in a fine performance in NER % ) $ TROPHIES 'and encRAnNG j] DO-NO's } RECORD. Paul Butterworth made it 2-0 at 16:22 as he poked a rebound across the line, then at 17:31, Nicholson cruised down the left side, fended off a Bruin with one arm and snapped a wrist shot from 25 feet out. Two minutes later, he pulled the trigger again, this time with a slap shot that was too hot for the goalie to handle. The MoJacks owned a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes. Rob Nicholson gave the MoJacks a five goal cushion at 3:54 with the teams playing three- aside as he found him-. self all alone in front of the Uxbridge cage and he slid a shot along the Ce. And Nicholson got this fifth of the night at 2:40 on a short-handed breakaway after taking a pass from Rob Nichol- son. The Bruins managed one more at 9:06, but the game was far out of reach by this time. Other MoJacks who enjoyed a productive night on the score-sheet were Horton and Rob Nicholson each with four points. The victory was an 'important one for the team, especially with four players sitting out Paul Butterworth and Dean Smith reach for this loose puck with a wide open net staring them in the face.
