J + g ST a a am or ------------ AA t Now that the holidays are over, and people have stopped asking- "Did you have a good Christmas or how was your New Years?' the favourite conversation seems to be the very cold weather we have had, but it won't be long tiil spring. We read in one of the papers last week that Cullen Gardens planted 100,000 tulip bulbs last October and the gardens will be opened on April 27th. How very fortunate we are to live as close to this lovely display to enjoy the beauty. No matter how dreary the winter day, let's get a mental picture of that beautiful spring flower spec- tacular showing. Everyone had a good time at the euchre party, held at the Community Centre last Thursday evening. There were six tables playing. The ladies prizes were won by Greta Halsey and Ruby Birkett. The mens prizes were won by Jack Bright and Norman Birkett. Verna Draper had the most lone hands. Alvin Spencer and Nelson Cole won the door prizes and the 50/50 draw went to Verna Draper. Lunch was enjoyed by all. The next party is on January 24th. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Chris Downs, they have a baby son, born January 7th. The ladies Bible class met at the home of Catherine Humphrey last Wednesday after- noon with an attendance dent Aldene Wick opened the meeting with a love- ly Worship Service and "her message was entitled "A Wealth of Friend- ship." The study was given by Florence Ashton who gave a very -interesting account of the life of Priscilla, wife of Aqaila. Thése stories of the women of the Bible have proved very in- teresting and anyone in- terested in joining the Women of the Bible class are sincerely welcome. They meet the second Wednesday of each month. A lovely lunch was served by Nellie Hopkins and the hostess and a happy social time spent over the tea cups. On the second Sunday of Epiphany at Burns Verse 10. The Scriptures were read by Catherine Hum- phrey and Ross Batten and the choir sang 'Wonderful the Mat- Aohless Love of Jesus.' Aldene and Dale Wick were the ushers for the service. The annual report is being prepared and the ~ congregational meeting will be held on February _ 8th beginning with a pot- luck supper. On February 10th, there will be a Boy Scout and Cub parade and church service . Our thought for today is: "Don't lose your cool, nothing cooks your goose faster than a boiling temper."
