ns Jp The Pearce Auction- eers had a busy Thurs- day at the Omemee Tournament playing 3 games and coming '>"me Consolation winners. To choose a Most Valuable Player would he an impossible' task as each and every player gave 110 per cent to the game. They can be very proud of their games as the opposition found it very difficult to penetrate Port's lines. The Auctioneers matched up against the Oshawa Red Wings in their first game. It was Davey Bourgeois who opened up the scoring unassisted early in the 1st period tucking one in behind the Oshawa goal- tender. Port held onto their 1-0 lead throughout the 2nd period but early in the 3rd Oshawa tied it up. It was anybody's game until Oshawa got the go ahead goal at the 3:29 mark of the 3rd period. With both teams battling for the puck, Oshawa n¢tted the clincher with 6 seconds remaining putting Port in the Consolation runn- ing. Their second game was against Fenelon Falls as Port came out anxigps and opened the scoring within 30 seconds of the opening whistle on a goal by Davey Bourgeois from defenceman Jay King. But their lead was short lived as Fenelon Falls led the score 8 seconds later. The rest of the period remained sqoreless with many i rushes by both sides. Then early in the second period Port's Sandy Mark scored un- assisted after stealing the puck away from the Fenelon Fall's defence- man. VDERS The Auctioneers kept the pressure on and scored again less than a minute later, the goal going to Brett Lawson assisted by Kenton Le- Fort. Brett Lawson finished off the scoring from a scramble in front of the net, late in the second period. Port held onto their 4-1 lead during the 3rd period earning their birth in the_cansolation finals. Their 3rd and final game of the day saw Port's Mike Pashley topping his previous outstanding games with his first shut-out, well done Mike. Still warm from the previous win, Port came out all fired up for the final match-up against Little Britain. Sixteen seconds after théopen- ing face-off, Brent Harper received a pass from Clay Scott and drilled one by Little Britain goal keeper. Then midway through the 1st period Brett 'Lawson scored his 3rd of the day with assists going to Clay Scott and Brent Harper. With 2 minutes remaining 'Graham Holt brought the puck through the opposition and scored unassisted ending the 1st _périod with a 3-0 lead. i The Auctioneers con- tinued to~control the - play with good passing: and excellent team work demonstrated throughout the game. The 2nd period was scoreless; but early in the third, Port continu- ed their scoring spree with a goal by Davey Bourgeoistassisted by defenceman Gavin Car-\, negie. Davey Bourgeois then scored his second of the game and his 4th of the tournament on a CHEVROLET - going to fellow linesman Scott Heasman and Sandy Mark. Rounding off the scor- ing with seconds re- maining Scott Heasman banged one.in a 'by Davey Bougeois and Sandy Mark, ending the game with a 6-0 victory. During the 3 games in *~ Omemee, we the fans, saw Port show many hockey and skating skills they have been taught by the coaching staff of Bob Spenceley, Ken Parry, Murray Empringham and Greg Heasman.
