Petites were kept busy playing 3 games in 5 days. Starting on Wed. Dec. 12 they travelled to Sund- erland to play a league game with Tracy Pelow - getting her second shut- out of the season as Port defeated the home team 9 to 0. In this game the defence again stood out as they kept the oppos- ition from getting many opportunities to score. Chris, Tanya, Nicky, 'Lyndsay and Kim P. certainly played their positions well. Scoring for Port were Misty Andrews 6 goals; Denna Lovering 2 goals; Amy Parliament 1 goal, 2 assists; Kelly Menzies 3 assists; Danielle Cooper and Chris Mueller 1 assist each. On Sat. Dec. 15 we travelled to Oakwood to play an exhibition game against Mariposa and came home with a 9-7 victory. Mariposa is one of the better teams in our league and our games against them this season have been very close. The Port Perry girls curled against Kim Pacey's rink from Ennismore in their first game and were victor- ious: 8-6. They played Karen Schmidt of C.F.B. Trenton in their second game and won by a score of 10-7. In the "A side final they were victorious over Donna Scott of Norwood by a score of 8-4. CF.B. Tuesday night in Ajax, the opposition appeared more interested in rough play than playing hockey, thus spending a cool 38 minutes in the penalty box, compared to Ports 16 minutes. Six goal found the target in the first period, three for each team. Ajax opened the scoring, only to have Sportsland retaliate 24 second later, on a goal by Jon Rodway from Scott Feasby. Ajax took a 2-1 lead before Feasby hit the target from Robbie Brown and Jon Rodway. Ajax again regained the lead, but a power play goal by Rodway unassisted had the game in a 3 all deadlock at the end of one period. Ajax connected for two unanswered goals in the second, while Port could not get on the scoreboard. The final period remained scoreless until the 1:17 mark when Leatherdale connected, with a backhand shot on a power play with Blair Bailey and John Lally each assisting. Ajax scored their 6th with 27 seconds remaining. Friday night on home ice, Sportsland were no match for a strong Markham team resulting in a 9-3 loss.
