It was a full and happy home on Sunday when Darlene Begin hosted a "Payne Family pre-Christmas Dinner". Guests were Margaret and Lloyd Payne, Steve and Mannie Payne and children of Port Perry. Denise and Albert Marchand and family of Whitby and Brenda and Jim Leaker ,f Burk's Falls. Brenda and Jim arrived on Sat. and were overnight guests with Darlene. Jeannie and Archie Watson, Jean and Gordon Jeffery attend- ed the Annual Christmas dinner for Uxbridge seniors on Wed. evening and enjoy- ed and delicious dinner catered by Trinity Ladies and followed by a most enjoyable programme by the Gib- son and Prentice groups and several beautiful solos by Jason Van Veghel. On Sat. there was a wonderful time of tellowship at Epsom Church when Faye Ash: ton and Stella Asling were hostesses for a Bridal Shower for Mis: Betty Medd. The Bride to-be received man) lovely gifts, then a beautiful cake was pre- sented and all enjoyed lunch and coffee and a good visit for we had not seen several of the guests for some time. The Church Service on Sunday was well attended. The children were all present to take part in the Service and the "White Gift" boxes were well filled. Many from the comm- unity attended the Achievement Pro- gramme for the 4-H Quilting Project at Ux- bridge High School on Sat. when our local Bethesda-Reach and Epsom Clubs participat- ed Kathy Baster and Sandra Kerry from the Epsom Club received their county honours. Congratulations. Bethesda girls had a lovely exhibit on 'The History of Quilting". If you wish to send a | The Epsom girls had an attractive exhibit "I Quilted It Myself". The Canada Packers Quilt display was very attractive. The new project for 1985 is 4-H Basic Bak- ing. The girls will make tea biscuits, pies and cakes and also learn simple decorating techniques. Anyone interested, please let the leaders know. Mrs. Jeffery and Mrs. Watson called on Mrs. Steve Shortt, Stephanie and wee Trevor one day last week. The Epsom 4-H Club has completed a Quilt- ing Project. They called themselves "Epsom Quilting Cuties. We learned to quilt, applique and string quilt. We were fortunate to visit the Quilting Cupboard at Uxbridge where Mrs. Alice Colby gave tips on Quilting and on choosing fabrics to match. We visited Mrs. Clara Jones to see a quilt in a quilting frame and learn how they are used. Thank you Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Colby for the interesting evening. We had such an enjoyable time. The members of this unit were: Maria Breznikar, Judy Birkett, Sandra Kerry, Christy Reynolds, Julie and Kathy Baster, Shelly Slack and a new member was welcomed Lynn Tang. Congratulations to Kathy Baster and Sandra Kerry who received county honours on Achievement Day. We wish to thank our leaders Mrs. Elva Kerry and Mrs. Gail Kerry. Epsom School is pre- sently trying to raise funds to build play equipment. If you have passed the school recently you would notice stage one completed.
