Petites travelled to Stayner for their annual tournament and were successful in bringing home the Championship trophy and gold medals. The girls played their first game on Sat. against Hagersville and won by a score of 12-8. It was an exciting end-to- end fast skating game. The defence of Tanya, Nicky, Chris and Shannon certainly help- ed Tracy to do her part in the winning of this first game. She was able to make a lot of key saves. The goals were scored by Misty with 5 and 2 assists; Denna with 3; Kelly with 2 and Amy with 2; Danielle with 2 assists; Nicky with 2 assists; Jennifer and Kim P. 1 assist each. The winning of this game put us on the Championship side. On Sunday a.m. we played our second game against Hanover and won by a score of 14-9. They were able to score a couple of quick goals before our girls got down to scoring goals The R.H. Cornish 12 year old boys team took second place in the all-Durham cross- country finals. Our second game on Sunday was against Stayner which the girls won 17-2. All of the girls played well and it was nice seeing the defence able to score goals. The forwards also played well on defence. All of the girls were really geared up for this game and came out McCullough, Jason Price, Aaron Cochrane, Eric Grosvenor, and Phil Teno. Atoms lose tough one 2-1 in final On Nov. 17 and 18th the Malmont Farms Atoms travelled to Ennismore to play in their first tournament of the season. The Green Machine played some excellent hockey in the first two games but came up on the short end of a 2-1 score against a team from Pickering for tire tour- nament championship. In game No.1 on Saiwurday Nov. 17, the Green Machine faced a club from Aylmer, Ont- ario and skated to a 3-1 victory. In the first period Sean McEnaney opened the scoring with the assist going to Jody Logan. In the second period Jason Cochrane netted his goal with the assist going to Brad Moase. With only 1:39 left in the period, Jeff Parry fininshed the Green Machine scoring with the assist going to Jason Cochrane. In game No. 2 on Sunday Nov. 18 the Malmont Farms faced ~~, a a a a v 4 i another tough club from Peterborough and again skated away with a 3-1 victory. In the first period Brad Moase opened the scoring with the assist going to Jeff Parry and Duane Em- pringham. At the 2:18 mark Brad Moase nett- ed his second goal with the assist going to Jason Cochrane and Peter King. The second period saw some fine hockey but no scoring. In the third period Brad Moase earned his hat trick (well done Brad) with the assist going to Jason Cochrane and brother Gavin. This win earned the Green Machine a spot in the champion- ship game. In game No.3 on Sunday Nov. 18 the championship game the Malmont Farms Club had their work cut out for them as they faced a very eager club from Pickering. This game saw the Green Machine come up short on a 2-1 score. In the first period 0 In the girls division, Celia Williamson, placed 7th in the 13 year old girls division in the Durham finals and Jessica Fluke placed 8th in the same division. - Jeff Parry scored Port's only goal with the assist going to Jody Logan and Stephen Laird. In the second period Pickering tied the game making the game very tense. In the third period with only several minutes remaining Pickering slipped the puck past Andrew Pereman and managed to hang on for the victory. The tournament saw some extremely well played hockey and con- gratulations are in order for all the boys on the Malmont Farms team as they showed a superb effort on their first tournament show- ing. Special note: Most valuable player awards were given out to each team for each game they played. Receiving the M.V.P. awards in game No. 1 was Andrew Pereman; game No.2 Brad Moase and game No. 3 Jody-Logan. On Friday Nov. 16, the Malmont Farms Atoms hosted an exhibition game against the L.N.N.L. Black Hawks and came away with a 3-1 victory. In the first period Lindsay Parry opened the scoring with the assist going to Jody Logan. With only 57 seconds remaining in the period Jason Coch- rane netted his goal with the assist going to Brad Moase. This proved to be another fine game and provided the Green Machine with a good chance to warm up for the Ennismore hockey tournament.
