| Waiting For The Snow Mike Donnelly (left) and Ralph Swain are darn near the best snow plow operators in Durham Region. Employed by the Scugog Township roads department, Mike and Ralph competed last week in the first annual Snow Plow competition in Whitby and plac- ed second out of 17 teams from across Durham. They rolled up 398 points, just seven behind the winning team from Orono. The competition included driving, trouble- shooting and a written test (they scored perfect marks on the test). Scugog roads superintendent Ronn MacDonald was one of the judges in the driving portion of the com- petition and he described the course as "'ex- tremely tough."" Ronn also said he was very pleased with the way Mike and Ralph per- formed. Now, bring on the snow. FRANK'S RESTAURANT CAESAREA L.L.B.O. "RIVER ROAD" FRI., NOV. 9th SAT., NOV. 10th 9P.M.to 1AM. November 6, 1984 -- 15 Hallowe'en a good excuse for a party Seagrave and Area News by Liz Smith Hallowe'en is always an excuse for a good party and the local children had plenty of opportunities last week to take part in one. The Cubs and Scouts started the week with their joint costume party on Monday night at the Greenbank Hall - games, stories, a 'haunted house" and of course food! Tuesday night found two parties going on in the church at once - the Guides upstairs and the Brownies in the base- ment. The Brownies took their costume - parade out into the village to delight the eyes (and stomachs) of neighbourhood resi- dents with dressed up brownies - both of the girl variety and the chocolate type! Thanks girls. The Playgroup had a . rousing party for the youngest set on Wed- nesday afternoon. Also, please note Playgroup will meet Thursday the 15th next week instead of Wednesday the 14th - it's a P.D. day for most schools. Wednesday night saw the usual parade of strange figures, though perhaps the numbers were down a little from previous years. Once the little ones had gone home to bed, the village settled down quickly, with little or no late night hijinks. The Good Neighbours Bus Trip Saturday was a tremendous success. "No one missed the bus at either end and no one was observed needing a U Haul for their parcels coming home. Don't forget to notify a committee member if you are going to the Fellowship Sister dinner on Dec. 5th at Emiels Restaurant - 6:30 p.m. Advance sales only on tickets - $11.00 so re- serve now. Everyone must be recovering from a busy Hallowe'en and prepar- ing for Turkey Supper, because I received no calls this week. So if you have news for next week, please remember to call Patty Williams - 985-2453. SOUP TUREENS "Our Gift Collection ... a unique delight for you to give and receive."
