Easy win for Tweens On Saturday Oct. 20 the Port Perry Chris Allan Aluminum Tweens, hosted Sunder- land for an exhibition game. Port didn't have much trouble with this team, beating them by a score of 10-2. Kerri Allan played a Port: started out -witlr ~ solid game in net, and excellent scoring, 3 goals in the first 2 periods. Port Perry's scorers were Jamie Menzies, Jeff Oke and Mark Barkey. Assists went to Brad Menzies with 2, Greg Stapleton, Jeff Oke and Steve Connors. In the 3rd period Uxbridge scored 2 goals making the score 3-2 for Port. Great game guys! Our first league game was on Sat. Oct. 27, against Mariposa. It was a closer game than the score indicates, with a lot of good end-to-end play. Port came out on top by a score of 6-2. Kerri Allan came up with a lot of good saves to help keep us ahead. All the defense also played a good game. Sunday we travelled to Woodville for our first meeting against this team. It was a close game throughout, with Port coming out on top by a score of 4-3. Kerri Allan played yet another excellent game, helping us to stay ahead. Scoring for Port was Lisa Levy with 2 goals, Jenny Blanchard with 1 goal and 1 assist, Connie Norton and Michelle Beare each with 2 assists, and Heather Lawrence with one. Port has had a pretty good season so far, and we hope to see Jennifer Pelow back out to help us next weekend. J&D opened the scor- ing on a goal by Tim Kane assisted by Mike Adam and John Robert- son. J&D took a 2-0 lead on a goal by Dennis - Lycett assisted by Bob Tarbottom and John Robertson. Smiths Contracting never gave up as Mike Driscoll scored 2 goals within 31 seconds with less than a minute to go in the game to preserve a tie for his team. Determination is the best word to describe action in Saturday morning's opening game between Coch- rane Trotters and I.G.A. The goaltenders were at best, wondering what was going on. 1.G.A. opened the scoring on a goal by Jerry Douma, with Steve Armstrong assisting, then the Horsemen came right back on Larry Collin's first of three for the day. John Sturman puts I.G.A. back in the lead on his goal, with help from J. Douma on Mark Fitze assisting, end of period one - 2-1 1.G.A. In the second period, the Trotters scored three unanswered goals, before J. Sturman scor- ed his second goal. For the Trotters Jon Rod- way, then Collins got his second. Then Scott White scored making it 4-3 Cochrane, Collins adding an assist. After two periods of play, the Trotters were out front. The third period start- ed out much like the second, with Rodway scoring his second goal, then Eric Douma scored for I.G.A. with help from J. Douma and Neil Mark. Then the Horsemen on Collins third goal, which was followed by Steve Diceman's goal, with White and Rodway assisting. This all came about, before Terry Bache scored, Chris Carr and E. Emmerson Insurance drew first blood in the first period, on Vince Tripp's goal. This lasted until late in the second when Solomon tied it at 1-1. This set the stae for the fire works in the third period. Consumers Gas pulled the plug and scored three goals, before Emmersons had a chance and then it was too late. Marvin Hughes led off by scoring the first of three by the Gas Works, Jason Bertrand assisted, then Mike Griffen scored with help from Paul Turner and Darryl Bradt. Two minutes later, Turner scored with Greg Free picking up the assist. Darey Head finally broke the ice, with Chris Logan assisting. In this game, the Consumers Gas won their first of the season, final score 4-2. See you all next week. Roberts. Game 3 Sportsland shutout Compton 1-0 on a fine individual game by goalkeeper Don Card. Time after time Don stopped Compton shooters with outstand- ing saves. The lone goal of the game came in the first period on a rink wide pass from Bruce Gracie and Dave Bourgeois to spring Ken Smart on a breakaway. Ken made no mistake scoring for Sportsland. Game 4 This game was the battle for first place. Galley was not to be denied from the drop of the puck as they skated to a 5-1 victory. ~ Scoring for Galley, Dale Bronson, Brian Samis, John Connors, Larry Page and Don- ovan Smith. Assists to Carl Fitzgerald 2, Terry Rose 2, Jim Harmer, Donovan Smith, Kelly Lee, Dale Bronson and Brian Samis. Larocque's only goal scored by Ken Little, assisted by Jim Beatty. Novice House League Davids Hairstyling - 2 Kinsmen - 2 Davids Hairstyling and Kinsmen play- ed to a 2-2 tie. Both goalies in this game played very well.
