'Fog Horn" Adam Danter The Back End At least Jennifer can see a bit, Adam Danter can't see at all inside the moose costume. Adam is also 12 years old and attends R.H. Cornish Public School. He has acted in school plays and one Western Week- end Play. He loves the play but doesn't like the teasing from the adults in the play about B.B.Q. Moose when he gets in the way! He had to learn to co-ordinate his move- ments with the front which sometimes is con- fusing and frsutrating. A highlight of the play is when '"'Fog Horn" dances! So you must come out just to see this spectacular sight! "Pig Skin"' Peters Played by Jeff Flieler Multi-talented, Jeff Flieler of Port Perry took this year off school to work before returning to University for Drama. He has been in an award winning play - After Liverpool (High school Drama Festi- val), John Foote's Theatre Workshop Pro- ductions and Borelian Christmas plays. Pigskin is probably the main character in Birdseye Play. He drifts into the town and settles there, goes to war then returns home and finds true love. His best friend and mentor is Archie Weevor. This loveable but niave character stays at the widow Stubs (Gerry McClurg) home during some of his stay at Birdseye. You must come out and see all that happens in the town of Birdseye and listen to all the original songs. It is music to your ears! Granny Played by Bethany Schryburt The multi-talented Bethany Schryburt is well known and admired for her acting roles in the Borelians Theatre and Durham Shoe String Theatre. And her recent success with "Yarns to Spin" which she wrote and produced. On auditioning for Birdseye she got her part as Granny Typhoon. Granny is tiger spirited with child- like undertones who creates a storm of excitement whenever she enters the stage. She is a close friend of Ruby. Beth and her daughter, Vicki (who plays 3 roles in the play) are really enjoying this original Canadian play. Eli Doolittle Played by Terry Hodgins Terry Hodgins is a seasoned actor in the Borelian plays. In the major play 'Death Trap" he was a real winner as Sidney Bruhl. Terry lives in Port Perry and is a Plant Superintendent with Matheson Gas Products Can. Ltd. In the play 'Birds- eye", Eli Doolittle does just as his name suggests - 'very little' as he spends much of his time getting others to do his work. Terry chuckles as he says his wife would say their" real life is similar! Ruby, his wife, has this pompas but good heart- ed man on a pedestal and would do anything for him. Eli typifies a real country rube and hick! Ruby Doolittle Susan Ellis Susan Ellis is a energetic lady from Blackstock but has many hidden talents as you'll see in Birdseye when she plays the wife of Eli. Susan is a Theatre Acts English school teacher and mother of three beautiful children. Her husband, Dave, is well known and admired for his directing and acting among many theatre groups. Susan has also directed 3 1-act plays for the Borelians. Ruby is the opposite of her husband Eli. She never stops working and always adored her husband. In every small town there is always a Enrolments hit record Durham College has a record night school en- rolment this Fall, with over 4,900 registered for courses. This shows an increase of approxi- mately 10 per cent over last year, with all Divi- sions reporting excel- lent enrolment. The most popular Health Science pro- grams include Adminis- tration of Medications, CPR Basic Rescuer course and Stress Man- agement. Business Division courses with excep- tional enrolment are Basic Data Processing, Effective Supervision (Human Relations), Financial Accounting, Introd ction to Real Estate, Business Law, Introduction to Market- ing, Word Processing, and the New Literacy - an Introduction to Com- puters. Popular Applied Arts programs include Com- puter Graphics I, Draw- ing, Oil Painting, Psychology and Photo- graphy. person like Ruby, a friend to all and always eager to get involved. Ruby sings a solo and blends well with the others in the original songs. The loyalty to Eli is tending the home guard drill (town militia) in his place. She leaves work to bring Eli his lunch at home and the like. Susan is exacted to be part of such a large energetic cast and show that has progressed to such a polished stage production. Archie Weevor Played by Gordon Lee This is Gordon's first acting role with the Borelians, but is well known for his set design- ing in "The Hand That Cradles the Rock'. He is a professional Desig- ner Builder by Trade. When he auditioned for the play, the producer said he was perfect for the part of Archie Weevor. Archie Weevor is very much a people person and loves children. The name Weevor is his for a weaver in real life spins or weaves tales as Archie does in the play. He starts the show of Birdseye and then weaves his tale which has a nice storybook ending. Gord has to gain 100 Ibs. each time he plays Archie but seems to shed it quite quickly right after each per- formance. Emmy Weevor Played by Janis Walter Janis Walker, person- al manager at Port Perry Community Memorial Hospital auditioned for Birdseye because she just loves theatre. Not acting since high school, Janis has quite an interesting character to play as the role of Archie's wife. Emmy Weevor loves her town and home, is a very diligent house- wife and very tolerant of her husband and their pet moose 'Fog Horn". She is a member of the ladies aide and knits socks for overseas dur- ing the war. Keep up the good work, Janis! "Fog Horn" The Moose Played by Jennifer Fowler --- The Front End This bright, happy talented 12 year old girl from Port Perry has been in R.H. Cornish School plays and two Borelian Christmas plays. One of her hobbies is piano which she is already in Grade 8 Western Conservatory. She explained that it's not like acting a char- acter person, but as an animal, you must learn to act like the animal you are doing. Inside the costume is like a sauna and Jennifer sometimes gets frustrated as she can only see straight in front of her at the best of times!
