Thelma Wright with the assistance of her: husband Lloyd and Jean Ferguson has made and painted 15 signs to mark hisjtoric sites in Car- twright. Six more per- manent signs are to be erected soon. Watch for them - they are all green and white! The Committee plans to have Bill Lishman repair the Hall monument with new lead letters. (In case you don't know where it is, look behind the cenotaph in the little park in Blackstock). October 12 and 13 will be exciting. Bethany Schryburt is now plan- ning to put on her historical play "Yarns to Spin" on Friday evening along with a sing-a-long, school choir and other musical selec- tions and slide show. Beth's play will also be put on Saturday after- noon. Both performan- ces are to be in the Recreation Centre. The Ontario Trail riders Association are passing through this area on August 17th, stopping at Burketon at non and camping about 4:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the Purple Woods Conservation Area. They would like descen- dants of the original set- tlers to sign their scroll, other people to walk or ride along with them on horses, people to present histories, and some to provide a quilt block with name of first settlers. Watch for them. The weather was beautiful on Saturday for the lovely lawn wed- ding of Kelly McLaughlin and Terry ~ Gatchell. Almost 200 interested visitors toured through the facilities. Many local friends and neighbours visited; with others coming from as far away as St. Catherines, Cornwell and Owen Sound. A Bible Vacation School will be held by Peggy Michell at 17 Scugog St. N. from 10-11 a.m,. this week, Aug. 13- 17 for children 5-10 years of age. All children are welcome.
