PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, July 31, 1984 -- 31 Greenbank UCW On July 5th, Green- bank UCW assembled at the church parlours for a dessert luncheon and meeting convened by Ruby Beare and assist- ed by Barbara Phair, Roberta Baird and Pearl Cowes. Immediately follow- ing the luncheon, every- one joined in a sing-song of old favourite hymns led by Roberta Baird. Then Ruby, assisted by guest, Jean Ward of Uxbridge, told of their recent trips to Australia and New Zealand and passed around many interesting souvenirs and pictures for all to see. Ruby especially mentioned her enjoy- ment of meeting numerous relatives, also a pen-pal of Mary Real's near Melbourne. Barbara Phair read a chapter of the study book on 'Women of the Bible', which told of the shame and guilt suffer- ed by the wife of Zaccheers until she heard the words of Jesus, "Don't be asham- ed, you'are my friend'. Pearl Couves led in prayer and the worship service was concluded with another hymn-sing. Mary Jean Till, presi- dent, then took the chair and with a few approp- riate words welcomed the large crowd of members and guests. Program Workshops within the Lindsay Pres- byterial will be held early in October It is hoped that several members will be able to attend a workshop at Sunderland United Church on October 3rd. Of the ten Korean ladies who will be visit- ing Canada on an ex- change this year, two will be speaking to groups in our area, - places and dates to be announced in Sept- ember. It was decided to again donate a sum of money to the Foreign Student Bursary Fund. Mary Jean introduced two special guests from Lindsay Presbyterial who each spoke briefly. President, Mrs. Olive McDonald, urged us to "Try to make a new friend this year' and Past President, Mrs. Thea Bradsma, asked us to invite younger women to attend our meetings and expect them to participate in their own ways. A weekend workshop will be held at Quin-Mo- Lac on Sept. 7-8-9. Any UCW members are welcome to go and registration fee will be paid by the Presby- terial.
