-- IT ------ Rim - Middleton. Danny Wood Young and the Innocent celebrate Holiday week Scugog Island by Vanessa, Pauline And Kim Welcome to the con- tinuing series of - you guessed it - "The Young ~ and the Innocent". We are pleased to share with you the successful completion of events during the Holiday week We decorated Easter eggs, consumed the del- icious goodies that were found in our stockings on Christmas Day, and the girls managed to keep the boys from stealing their hearts on Valentine's Day. On Hallowe'en we had a competition for best costumes. First prize was awarded to Sam- antha McMullen who portrayed the "good and "bad" witch. The first runner-up was Keith Haist who was a "punk rocker'. The other runners up were Amanda Peelyk (bunny rabbit), Mona Wood (cowgirl), and April Vanstrien (clown). And finally the most impor- tant thing we did all week was, have fun. We have planned a Km. walk-a-thon for July 27th. Your support would be appreciated ~ for our fund raiser. Our cake raffle was a com- plete success. We would like to thank all the people that supported our fund raiser. The Big Bird Cake was baked and generously donated by Mrs. Helen Newlove of Blackstock and was won by Mr. Terry Downs of Lindsay. Port Perry Playground by Debbie VanCamp Three weeks down and three to go! This past week our theme was "Disney". The kids spent craft time creat- ing their favourite char- acters. After a snails pace start with our cake raffle, we turned up the wick and now we're cooking with gas! Due to such a slow start our raffle day has been postponed to July 27 rather than the 20th. we are giving the kids one more week to ask all those they didn't get on the start. This year we are going to Peterborough ~ Zoo for our annual trip. With such a large number of children registered we are look- ing for help. We will need at least ten mothers or fathers .to help us with the children for the day. If we are unable to find enough we may not be going. If you can attend or have any questions, come and inquire at the play- ground. We are looking for- ward to hearing from you as we journey on through the fourth week of our program. Thank-you to those who are supporting our raffle and to those who haven't bought a ticket - you better hurry! Thanks Susie Homemaker for the buns and wienies. your Prince Albert by Maureen Adams Believe it or not, we've made it halfway through the 6 week programme and our theme was Nutrition Week. On Monday we travelled to Oshawa for a tour of Burger King. The staff of the Prince Albert playground would like to thank the mothers who drove their cars, and for their time and patience, it was greatly appreciated. Tuesday morning we DON FREW & SONS LTD. Fun, but messy! (I'm sure more was eaten then put on the paper). We also made a dip and had fresh vege- tables. Thursday we went swimming and made a cheese dip and ate celery. Friday we saw films and sold hot dogs at lunch time. Stay turned until next week. Greenbank by Sheila, Michelle & Heather Well, we've hit the halfway mark - Play- ground is almost over but the fun isn't. We were in the "Kiddies Parade' to help kick off '"'Western Days". The kids were all dressed up and looked great. Everyone received a Western Days button and three of our kids received prizes. Congratulations must go to Jay Tredway, Heather Tredway and Gregory Phayre (con- gratulations kids you all looked great). Everyone always asks "What kind of crafts do you do?" Well, we've done everything! For example, we made our very own felt animals, paper plate puppets, toothpick art, kites, bin- oculars and much much more - nothing is beyond us - we even use food to do our crafts - we did macaroni art and (the kids favourite) art! (All this in one week!) We had some "sur- prise" visitors this week. "Nutrition-in-the- Parks" came to teach us about good foods to eat. They taught us how to "pig-out" on good foods. We sang, danced and played "healthy food" games. We really had fun. Thanks Maureen, Deb and Pam! We had our show and films this week - we missed out on swimming though! But we'll make it next time! But wait, that's not the end of Playground adventures - we went on a 4 mile walk-a-thon - some walked, some ran, some crawled but we all finished! Thanks to all those who sponsored our kids - the money raised is used for our playground only and it will be used towards our '"'mystery"' trip at the end of the summer! Can you guess where we are going? But not all our trips are a mystery - on July 25 we will be going to Mother's Pizza in Oshawa - we will also be going to the 'Chicken Coop" in Greenbank. We are also selling cake raffle tickets. The draw will be held July 31 so please buy a ticket - if you win you'll enjoy a terrific cake made by Lila Clarkson! Mmm Good!
