S&H wi Seagrave and Area News by Marilyn Beacock Strawberry socials were a few years ago, a very exciting summer event to look forward to when neighbours and friends gathered in the church or on someone's lawn to enjoy the first of summers bounty of fresh fruit - strawberr- ies and to socialize with their friends and be entertained with a wide variety of local talent. Over the years the trend has faded away unfor- tunately, but thanks to the brainwave of some enterprising soul(s) this idea was once again resurrected much to the delight of those who chose to attend this function held at Shar- view Farm in Prince Albert on Sunday after- noon. A delectable array of strawberry tarts, shortcakes and heaping bowls of juicy red berries topped with heaps of whipped cream were a delight to the eye as well as the palate! The food was terrific, the entertainment was great and it could be said that all who attend- ed had a "'berry' good time. Many thanks to Andrea and Chap Jones for hosting it and to the Prince Albert UCW for their help in turning back the clock 50 years or so! Congratulations to a very talented young Seagrave lady who at 15 has just completed her grade 8 vocal in music. Miss Melanie Lee who has earned quite a reputation with her lovely voice recently graduated with excell- ent marks in this class. We are very proud of your achievement Melanie! Sorry to report that Mr. Paul Wanamker has been a patient in hospital recently. Hope you're soon feeling better Paul and able to buzz around on that new motor bike! The Mites team play- ed their game last Monday evening but due to the fact so many kids from the Port Perry team were on holidays our Seagrave kids won Old-fashioned square dancing Epsom Area News By Jean Jeffery July 13th - an old-fash- ioned square dance in the school - come and bring the family. A nominal charge will be made. July 14th - at 10:45 the parade will line up on the old county road west of Epsom to visit our village. Walter Kerry is Master in Charge. Sportsday will start at 1:30 - you could bring a lunch but hot dogs and pop will be available. This project is sponsor- ed by the Sunday School.
