John Hill officiated at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Warden Greenley of Oshawa. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cook of Bowmanville. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a taffeta gown with lace, a bodice with a high neckline appliqued with alencon lace and bishop sleeves with long cuffs. The full taffeta skirt had a chapel train. The bride wore a matching lace mantilla with a long veil, trimmed all around with alencon lace. Kim Berardi of Whitby, sister of the bride, was maid of honour. Bridesmaids were Della Griffin of Columbus, Keri Durno and Noel Durno, both of Oshawa, cousins of the bride. Gary Lane of Bowmanville was best man. Ushers were John Andringa of Bowmanville, Jim Broschak of Edmonton, brother-in-law of the - groom and David Cook of Bowmanville, brother of the groom. The reception was held at the Bowmanville Lions Centre. : The couple went to Jamaica for their honey- moon. The newlyweds will live in Bowmanville. On Thursday, May 24, more than 700 balloons were released by the students at R.H. Cornish School in Port Perry as part of the school's annual Fun Fair. Attached to each ball- oon was a tag with the name and address of the student who sent it into the air, As of June 25, about 35 of those tags had been mailed back to the students and it appears as if many of those balloons travelled a . great distance. Some were found in New York State, Massachusetts and New Jersy. Some of the balloons didn't get too far, how- ever, in fact, one was found on Silver Street in Port Perry just minutes after being released. One of the first tags returned was that of Kevin Stewart. His ball- oon was found near Hastings, Ontario, about three hours after it was released. Some of the people who found the balloons took the time to write interesting letters fo the senders and the follow- ing is a sample of some of the letters which the students have received. Dear Chris Bradley While walking along Cisco Beach on Nan- tucket Island off the Southern Shore of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I happened upon a part- ially deflated red ball- oon bearing the enclos- ed tag! So I'm following your instructions and sending you the tag. I knew you'd be glad to find out the final resting place of the obviously wind blown journey. Look on a map and find Nantucket. It is next to Martha's Vine- yard in Cape Cod Sound and is a marvelous place to visit. It is there the whaling industry in the USA began and provided the inspiration for '"Moby Dick', by Melville. The Island today is sandy, with seaside cliffs and moors, rugged heather fields, cranberry bogs, PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, July 4, 1984 -- 9 Balloons returned from all over old fisherman's shacks and a beautiful harbor lined with all Kinds of sea-faring vessels. ~ Good Luck to You! I like to ride my BMX and use my TRS-80 Color: Com- puter in my spare time. Would you please write me a letter with the following information: When you let the balloon go, from where, how old you are, what you do in your spare time, what grade you're in. Thank you, Bob Turner, Somerset, Mass. P.S. Enclosed is your. tag. Hi Darryl Moase My name is Ellen and my brother's name is Chris.
