Mothers: beware wet paint at Greenbank Park Greenbank News by Mrs. Armour McMillan The Greenbank Park Committee will be painting the Park play- ground equipment this week so mothers be- ware of wet paint. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed next Sunday, July 1st at 11:30 a.m. The children were bap- tised on Sunday, they were Kenneth Thomas, infant sone of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hunter, Miranda Leigh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomson, and Shawn Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferron Young. Reserve Sunday even- ing, July 8th for the strawberry social in Greenbank Hall from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. There will be musical entertain ment. Reserve Sunday July 15th for Greenbank Community Picnic. Watch for details in a later issue. Mrs. Mildred Thom- son visited with her sister, Miss Mary For- far in Agincourt a few days last week. Mr. Warren Mec- Cready visited with his sister at Crystal Lake on Saturday. Mrs. Myrna Sharrard visited with Mrs. Kath- leen Leask and John én Sunday afternoon. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Innes were Miss Nancy Tait and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stainton of Toronto and Mrs. Heather Munroe, Sonya. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mann entertained their two granddaughters while the parents Mr. and Mrs. Ron Dunn were on holidays last week. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter entertained Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Symons Ea] and the Hunter and Davis families after the baptism service of their grandson Kenneth Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Rodd visited with Mr. and Mrs. David Kamp- man and girls at Brampton on Sunday. Pioneer Days at Scugog Shore Museum is on June 30th and July 1st this year. The Museum has been open for some time but this is the fun time for all. There are contests and a parade for the children with good prizes. Watch for particulars in another section of this issue. The ladies of the Community are having a bake sale on July 13th and reserve October 27th for the UCW Fall bazaar. Mr. and Mrs. Couper- thwaite visited Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ellicott, Port Perry and their guests Mr. and Mrs. Sachks from Vancouver one evening recently. Greenbank W.I. June Meeting The last meeting of Greenbank Women's Institute was at the home of Mrs. Neil Hunter on June 21st at 8 p.m. After the Ode and ° Mary Stewart Collect, the President Mrs. Fred Phoenix thanked visit- ors and members. For the roll call, some remembered a verse they had learnt at school and others didn't. A report of the Dis- trict Annual was given by District Director Mrs. Frank Innes and we were reminded of the District picnic to be held on July 10th at Elgin Park in Uxbridge. It was moved and seconded that a flag be purchased for the pole at the Centennial Hall and Mrs. Harry Hill offered to purchase the necessary supplies for the sandwiches for the Pioneer Days workers at Scugog Museum: on June 30 and July Ist. The sandwiches to be made at the home of Mrs. Wm. Earle. Mrs. Neil Hunter told of a 60th anniversary of Wexford W.I. that she and Mrs. J. Symons attended recently. Mrs. A. McMillan introduced the guests, Jean Ward, Evelyn Smalley and Bessie Acton, and they told about their trips and showed slides of Aust- ralia and New Zealand. At the conclusion, they were thanked and the meeting closed with Institute Grace. A social hour followed. Putsey AX gt a! og" }, + aE. ¥ iad, PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 26, 1984 -- 33 redecorated On June 19th, the Scugog Beautification Committee for Caes- area planted a flower bed and raised a bicen- tennial flag in Putsey Park. The Cubs and Guides who are working on their Ecology Badge came along to give assistance. Projects completed so far are 2 barrels at Frank's Restaurant and the Community Church, a flower bed beside the Fire Hall and a hanging planter box on the Community Hall. Planned for the Fall will be bulb planting and a flower bed at Cart- wright Park, if enough funds are available. Donations of bulbs and perennial plants would be appreciated. Also help in watering the beds already planted. Many thanks to the local residénts who have already donated their time, vehicles and con- tributions. After- noon callers were Harold and Vera Cawker of Peterbor- ough and supper guests were Bill and Velma Huggins and Alvena Jeffery of Orillia. Mrs. Hansen was pleased to have daughter Judy of Scar- borough with her for a weeks holiday. Mrs. Irene Houghland and her son, Glen, of Oshawa also Thelma and James Houghland of Port Perry were Sunday supper guests with Bruce, Jean and Robert Houghland. Donna Kerry and Ann Tapscott were hostesses for a very lovely shower for their close friend, Tracy Gourlie. After receiving many beauti- ful gifts, Tracy thanked her many friends for their Kindness. Our sympathy to the Bailey and Geer famil- ies in the loss of a dear sister and aunt, Mrs. Nel Hodgson (Pearl Bailey) of Oshawa. Don and Stella were at Emsdale for a few days last week. Howard Ashton was home for Sunday from the Hospital. Alan, Joyce and family of Oakwood were Sunday visitors. Earl and Elizabeth Taylor enjoyed a visit and supper on Tuesday with daughter, Marga- ret and her husband, Shawn Sevier of Thorn- hill. Beth and Doug Wilson and children visited Grandma and Aunt Ruby in Uxbridge on Sunday. Several attended the baby shower for Lori Bradbury at the home of Kim Ellicott. The Youth Group enjoyed a swim and barbecue at the home of Brad and Steve Prentice on Sat. night. Several members of the group visited Greg Barnett and lan Disley who are in hospital in Toronto. The UCW outing is to Scugog Museum on Tuesday. The Vacation Bible School will be at Epsom Church July 9 - 13 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30. Music, craft and bible stories. Register your children with Shirley Baster 852-7433. Remember the Social Club on Friday, June 29 at 6:30 leaving Epsom Church for Cullen Barns. There will be a meet- ing of Session and Stewards at Epsom Church 8:30 p.m. at Epsom Church on Thursday. Welcome home to Bert Ruhl who has been employed for the past couple of years in Australia. Peggy and Willie Burke and Melinda of North Bay visited her parents, Johanna and Chris Ruhl. Some cubs and guides from Caesarea got together with members of the Scugog Beautification Committee last week for a garden planting and flag raising ceremony in Putsey Park.
