An out- door service was held at 11:15 aim. with Rev. Dale Davis presenting af interesting message on Father's Day. After the service a pot luck dinner was partaken of by the large attendance. Games were enjoyed by the youngsters and some not so young. Retiring Superintendent Robt. Mairs and wife, Carol were presented with an appropriate gift - the presentation made by the new Superinten- dent Richard Mac- Kenzie. Sincere thanks to Robt. and Carol for their work and dedica- tion for the past 7 years - and best wishes for success to the new Superintendent Richard who is assuming the responsibility. Official Opening Impressive The Sam Cawkers, Nestleton, attended the official opening of the new Emergency and Out-Patient Extension of Port Perry Hospital "The Dr. Matthew B. Dymond Wing' on Fri- day, June 15, 1984 at 2 p.m. and found the ceremonies most impressive indeed! Your correspondent joins with the people of Nestleton and Caesarea in congratulating the donors - the planners and so forth and especially the honour bestowed on a good friend Dr. Matthew B. Dymond. Scugog Beautification Committee On Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. the Brownies, Cubs and Scouts of Caesarea will be plant- ing flowers at Putsy Park - and raising the Bicentennial Flag. Their final project is a flower bed at the Fire Hall, two tubs at Caes- area Church and three tubs at Frank's Restau- rant. Congratulations for a great effort! Reception and Dinner Attended On Monday evening Lawrence and Gwen- dolyn Malcolm of Nestleton attended a reception and dinner held to honour Lenore Hoar on her retirement as a primary and junior consultant with the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education. More than two hundred co-workers and friends were present on this special occasion held at the Dutch Oven Restaurant at Orono. Church and Sunday School this week are combined, starting at 11:00 a.m. The children have been asked to come at 10:30 to- prac- tise. Lunch and picnic will follow the service which is to be held at Utica Church. The Social Club will meet at Epsom at 6:30 p.m. on June 29th to leave for Cullen Barns for their tour. Everyone welcome. Euchre winners on Friday evening were Ladies 1st to Bessie Spencer, 2nd M. Poots and low was Annie Bowman. Men's 1st Hardy Noble, 2nd Bruce Johnson and low was Mildred Thompson. Freeze-out winners were Rachel Eeckhout and George Harper, Irwin Kydd and Bruce Johnson were 2nd. There will be another euchre this Friay at 8 p.m. in Utica Hall. The Session and Ste- wards will meet at Epsom Church on the 28th at 8 p.m. Sympathy of the community to the Bailey and Geer famil- ies in their bereavement of Mrs. Pearl Hodgson of Oshawa. Sunday guests with Earl and Irene Fielding were son Bill and Miss Donna Wakeford and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fielding and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ross and boys were Sunday supper guests with her parents Lorne and Eileen Slute. Bill and I joined with Charlie from Kingston at the home of the Dennis Gerrow family in Pontypool on Sunday for supper. On Saturday I called on my Aunt Elsie Butler, cousins Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Butler and Aunt and Uncle Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyers all of Scarborough. On Wed- nesday we journeyed to Haliburton for the day. Mrs. Mildred Thomp- son and her mother Mrs. Miller were Sunday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Don Hill of Mount Albert. Mr. and Mrs. Hillis Wilbur, Lee and Steven Langille attended the Kingston Township Bantam Softball Tour- nament on the weekend and while there had a visit with Charlie Brown. On Sunday the Wilburs attended at 45th Wedding Anniversary celebration for her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Beare at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morton in Ajax. Kevin and Laura Carre performed at their piano recital in the Sunderland Hall on Tuesday. On Sunday the Eric Carre family attended a family get- to-gether at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Carre in Bridgenorth 'to cele- brate Father's Day and also to see their new niece. More Epsom news (From page 37) The Ashton family all visited Howard Ashton in Uxbridge Hospital on Sunday. We wish Howard a speedy recovery. Paul and Shirley Baster visited the Spen- cers in Kitchener over the weekend. The Tapscotts attend- ed a shower for Brian Tapscott at the home of Laurence Tapscott of Markham on Friday evening. Paul Kerry was home for the weekend. Twelve member of Epsom-Utica UCW enjoyed Thursday after- noon at the Pine Grove Church. Their UCW had planned a lovely pro- gramme. Several of our UCW members also attended a UCW Rally at Keswick on Tuesday. Mrs. Simpson of Ux- bridge, Ian and Marlene Archibald, Dennis and Carol Irwin and boys were Sunday dinner guests with Marie and Earl Wilson. Don't forget the '"Weigh-in" after Church on Sunday June 24th. After which there will be a picnic lunch and races for the children. Choir practice Wed. as usual.
