PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 12, 1984 -- 27 The children of Greenbank Public School treated their counterparts at R.H. Cornish to a delightful musical called "The Canada Goose' last week. Just about everybody Goose makes you glad fo be a Canadian citizen When the kids at Greenbank Public School went to work on the musical production of "The Canada Goose"', every student had a hand in making it a real success. Last week, the school took its production "on the road", so to speak, to R.H. Cornish School in Port Perry, for two performances of this delightful musical whose overall theme is "Canada, what a great place to live". The main roles were played by David Vol- man as '"'The Canada Goose", Kristy Hutch- eon as "The Motto', Andrew Galle as '"'The Mayor', and David McVeigh as '"'The Wizard". But in total, about 100 students took part on stage in the singing and dancing numbers, while other students worked back-stage. Under the direction of teachers John Bark and Jan Breen, the students from Greenbank had a role one way or another in this production which stressed the idea that Canadians have a lot to be proud of and should think positively about Canada. began working on the musical back in Feb- ruary and performed it first May 16 at the Sunderland Music Hall. Since Greenbank School has no gym or auditorium, the stud- ents had to roll back desks in one of the classrooms to design the props and hold rehear- sals. All the effort and hard work obviously paid off, for the result was a polished performance that made everybody in Photo trip down under Greenbank News by Mrs. Armour McMillan The services at Greenbank are at the usual hour next Sunday. Mrs. Roy Camplin of Sunderland visited with her daughter Mrs. Cliff Rodd one day last week. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Howard Mec- Millan and family on the death of Howard Mec- Millan on June 5th. The June meeting of Greenbank Women's Institute will be on Thursday, June 21st at the home of Mrs. Neil Hunter. There will be pictures on Australia and New Zealand. All ladies are most welcome to attend. Please note change of date. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Shaw to the comm- unity. They reside in the home formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McCartney who are now in Ottawa. The Greenbank Gamblers ball team played in a tournament in Oshawa over the weekend. They were runners up losing their final game 1-0. The Gamblers home games are played in Green- bank Park on Monday nights. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill arrived home on Sunday from an enjoy- able holiday in Portugal and Spain. Mrs. Neil Hunter and her mother, Mrs. J. Symons of Uxbridge were guests at the 60th anniversary of Wexford Women's Institute one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Veitch one evening recently. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hunter and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hunter were guests at the wedding of Karen Knowles and Larry Ryan in Toronto on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bishop, Bradley and Mathew visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don McKean on Sunday. Miss Darlene Rodgers of Toronto is spending some holidays with her parents at the Parson- age. She attended the Seagrave and Green- bank showers for her sister, Miss Laurie Rodgers, a June bride- to-be. Mrs. Barbara Sweet of Picton and Mrs. Ray Gunsolus of Belleville attended the shower for Miss Laurie Rodgers on Saturday at the home of Mrs. Gladys Vande- Walker in Greenbank. Rev. Art and Ruth Rodgers, Laurie, Dan, and Larry attended the morning worship service at Brooklin United Church on Sun- day when Rev. Rodgers conducted Holy Comm- union. Brooklin Minister the Rev. Boyce Elliott was guest speaker at Pinedale United Church Sunday School Anniver- sary. Principal Bud Morri- son said last week there is a chance the school will perform 'The Canada Goose" once more this year, but details as to the date and place have yet to be worked out. If the stud- ents do get the chance to get this play back on the stage, don't miss it. David Volman played the part of the goose while the motto was played by Kristy Hutcheon.
