Tak- ing part in the show were exhibits by Scugog Township, Scugog Shores Museum, Chamber of Commerce, Port Perry Fair Board, Railroadhouse Mote! and Goreski's Summer Resort. Although the show was not sucessful in that few attended, participants in Marketplace '84 think that it should be at- tempted again. Only their hairdresser (and the fever) knows for sure. , Brooklin Spring Fair will get started soon The theme of the Brooklin Spring Fair parade, being held at 10:30 a.m. on June 2nd, 'Saturday, is "Ontario -- Yours to Discover -- 200 Years". Anyone wishing to participate in the parade or any of the activities of 'the Fair are welcome. Featured this year are the Beauty Pageant for girls 17 to 23 years as of August this year, living in the Brooklin, Whitby-Oshawa area and the second Annual Baby Show. The Brook- lin Spring Fair will be officially opened by the Hon. George Ashe, Minister of Govern- mental Services, MPP Durham West Riding, on Thursday May 31st at 8 p.m. following the Miss Brooklin Spring Fair pageant. The first prize winner will be eligible to compete in the Sweetheart of the Fairs competition to be held August 1985 at the Canadian National Exhibition. There will be a prize for the runner up. Pageant rehearsal and last entries will be from 7 pm. to 9 p-m. Tuesday, May 26th at the Brooklin Commun- ity Centre, Cassels Road, Brooklin - phone 728-3470. The second Annual Baby Show will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2nd for babies from the age of one month to 24 months. There will be prizes for all babies entered and the dates for registra- tion are May 26th and May 28th from 2p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brooklin Community Centre, Cassels Road, Brooklin and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 30th at the Vipond Memorial Arena, Winchester Road, Brooklin. GET READY FOR Me P MALE & FEMALE Following the crown- ing of Miss Brooklin Spring Fair on Thurs- day, May 31st, there will be a new feature for the evening; a Variety Show under the direc- tion of Bert Heaver. There is also a change in the Sunday evening pro- gram this year; it will feature a Country Music Show by Bill Johnson and Sweet Country Band featuring June Eikhard and other special guests. Both shows are included in the grounds admission. Among the many competitions, is the Canada Packers Quilt competition and the winning quilt will go to the Provincial level. If it is a winner there, the Canada Packers will request the right to buy the prize winning quilt. Homecrafts entries are accepted and the dates are from 2p.m. to 5 p.m. May 26th and May 28th.
