Flower power Flowers blossomed everywhere in the library last Thursday evening when Pine Ridge Garden Club held its annual spring flower show. Spring flowers that had been carefully nurtured and cared for all winter long were judged by Beth Frost, who is seen above with club president John Kingstone. Local scouts defend fort Seagrave and Area News by Liz Smith Sunday evening saw some pretty damp and slightly mussed local boys return from battle. The 8 scouts and 1 cub from the Seagrave Group had marched off to war in full uniform Friday night - along with others from Pine- ridge District - to defend their country against the invading Ameri- cans, of course, they marched into yellow school buses, the uni- forms were bright red reproduction of the 1812 era, the battle took place over 160 years ago and the Americans were friendly scouts from New York state. Fourteen hundred scouts, their officers, and a cub regimental band trained and "fought" at Fort York all weekend as part of the Fort York Scout Experience, a biannual event that was even more exciting this year because of Toronto's sesquicentennial. The troops were even re- «(Cc viewed by the Lt. Gover- nor of Ontario. They all enjoyed the experience, but Monday morning saw them all back in 1984! Greenbank Public School placed first at the Scugog Cluster Science Fair Tuesday May 8 at Prince Albert Public School. The par- ticipants were James McCabe, Simone Clark- son, Amy Wanamaker, Margaret Jeronimo, Kerri-Ann Gibson, Robert Raines, and Kristy Hutcheon. Greenbank Public School will be present- ing this year's drama production - '"'The Canada Goose" on Wed- nesday May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sunderland Town Hall. Tickets are $1.00 for adults and everyone is welcome to come. Going on past achievements - it should be great! There will be a work day at the Seagrave Park this Saturday May 19th to complete the line A 184 BOND ST.
