During discussion of this issue Monday after- noon, council noted that Scugog has a mutual aid fire call agreement with the Manvers depart- ment, similar to agree- ments it has with other fire departments. . Council felt there was no need at this time to alter the agreements. Scugog does have a special agreement with the Uxbridge Fire department which res- ponds to calls coming from the northwest corner of the Township. Scugog re-imburses the Uxbridge department for these calls. Local organizations receive donations Central Seven Industries received a nice surprise last week when the Loyal Orange Lodge presented a cheque for $550 to the 'group. Harry Evans is seen here accepting the cheque on behalf of the clients at Central Seven from Allen Bailey of the Orange Lodge. Central Seven president Chuck Preston was on hand for the occa- sion. The money was raised by the Lodge at the annual maple syrup festival held at the Prentice Farm on Scugog Island. The Scugog War Memorial Library received a handy gift recent- ly from a fundraising group known as Friends of the Library. Chief Librarian Judy MacColl (centre) cheerfully accepted funds to buy an atlas stand. The cheque presenters are (from left) Bobbie Drew, Gail Chellew and Chairman of the Library Board Richard Drew. The Port Perry Hospital Building Fund received a $4000 shot in the arm last week from General Motors. Paul Simpson (left) of GM in Oshawa turned the cheque over to administrator Dave Brown and building committee chairman Howard Hall. The new addition fo the hospital is almost finished and an official opening is slated for June. About $30,000 more is needed to put the expansion fund over the top.
