The committees will probably be in place by the end of this year to look into the future of Cartwright High School and Epsom Public School, according to - Scugog trustee Rev. Stuart McEntyre. These committees are made up of trustees, Board of Education officials, ratepayers from the community, Obituary and parents who have children attending the schools. The committees are asked to thoroughly study the schools and then come up with recommendations on whether or not the schools should remain open. While commenting on the formation of the committees, Rev. Mc- Entyre stressed this does not automatically mean a school will be closed. Several years ago, a committee was formed to look into the future of Committees study future of schools Epsom Public School and came up with the recommendation that it should stay open, despite a gradual decline in enrollment. As for Cartwright High School, which has just over 100 students, the Board of Education is projecting that 70 per cent of the grade 8 class at Cartwright Public School will attend Port Perry High School in September. Tradition- _ally, about 50 per cent of the grade 8 class had attended PPHS with the remainder going into Cartwright High School.
