With 41 seconds left in the period Port pulled ahead 2-0. Blair Phillips dumped the puck out in front of the net and with Dresden's goalie out of position, Mike Gibson picked it up and shot it home. In the opening minute of the second period, John Lally gave Port a 30 on a beautiful solo effort. Two minutes later Warren Geer made it 4-0. Warren had done a lot of hustling in the corner before he came out in front of the net and scored. Robbie Brown and Andrew Steele picked up assists. Dresden did not lie down and play dead but every time they tried to mount an attack the forwards backchecked or the defense stopped them or goalie Steve Whalen robbed them. Port had some questionable penalties called on them but even then most of the play took place in the Dresden end of the 3:29 left in the period. In the third period Dresden came out klugt - 681. They asked foi a stick measure on the curve of one of the Port Perry sticks and thanks to a ruling against them, Port found themselves two men short. Just as the second penalized player was stepping on the ice, Dresden got a breakaway and made it 4-2. But for Dresden it was a futile effort for Port Perry dominated the closing minutes of the game. With the closing horn Port Perry's already noisy fans went wild. For some of the boys it was their third year on an All-Ontario "B"" team under the tutaledge of coach Dave Obee, for others their second but for some of the boys it was their first All-Ont- ario victory and for them it was a special thrill. The title did not come easy for the team; they had to work hard to beat the Dresden team who wouldn't quit but Port came up with a super effort in the three games they won. In the words of one of the Dresden fans, "We were simply outclassed'. From the fans a big thank you to each and every member of the pen- team who gave it their all, to the two goalies . who were there when we needed them and to coaches Dave Obee and Dave Ballingall, trainer Peter Christie and manager Bob "Punch" Jamieson for a super job with the team.
