Port, who have had a long lay off since their last series, came out a little flat at the beginn- ing of the first period. They regained some of their form after opening the scoring early in the first period. Jamie Menzies took a shot on the Dresden goalie; the puck-hit John Lally who was stationed in front of the goal and Port was on the board. Ian Smith also picked up an assist on the play. With less than 2 minutes left in the period Jamie Menzies picked up a super pass from John Lally who had received a pass from Ian Smith and Jamie scored on a low shot to the left corner of the net. The line of Menzies, Lally and Smith put on a sterling - performance through- out the entire game. In the case of Menzies, the goal post proved once again to be the goalie's Nall ES I } TROPHIES and I JENGRAVING DO-NO -NO's | RECORD, CRAFT & HOBBY WORLD | fi Queen St., Port Perry ; 5 985-2839 Lion A ee i SN UXBRIDGE best friend. Port's overall play picked up in the second period and they controll- ed the play for the period. Warren Geer made it 3-0 with 2:97 left in the period after some hard work behind the net by Blair Bailey. In the third period Dresden got on the scoreboard. After they got the goal, Dresden came to life. Port play- ed the last 42 seconds short-handed due to an unsportsmanship penalty assessed to a Port Perry player. Dresden pulled their goalie and Port fans had some anxious moments before the game ended. Although Port out- played Dresden, without the good penalty killing, the score might have been different. Hope- fully, foolish penalties will be avoided in future games in this series. Port picked up 16 min- ites compared with Dresden's 8 minutes. In addition to the Lally, Menzies, Smith line mention should go to Jeff Oke and Blair Bailey who had a fine game for the local team. Congratulations to the whole Port Perry team for an entertaining game! Sunday afternoon proved to be a complete turnaround from Sat- urday's game with Dresden coming out at the winning end of a 5-3 score. The visitors' played the same kind of hard checking game that Sportsland played the night before and had Port off balance throughout the game. Even on power plays Port Perry couldn't seem (0 muster any sustained attack.
