If a 7th and final game is re quired it will be held in Port at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 30th. On Sat. March 24th the Goreski Bantams played. their fifth and deciding game in the best of 3 out of 5 semi- final series against Alliston. Port Perry had to put forth their best effort to come up with a 6-4 victory. This win assured the Port Perry Bantams a berth in the All-Ontario finals. Port Perry outplayed their opponents .in the first period, but on a powerplay, Alliston was able to score the first goal but Port's Steve Durham tied the game 20 seconds later, with Greg Stapleton and Rob Baker assisting on the play. In the second period, Alliston scored again on the powerplay, but 4 minutes later Dave Culbert popped in the equalizer assisted by Rob Baker. Port scored two more before the period ended, giving them a two goal lead. Scoring for Port was Dave Burnett from On Thursday March 22 the Malmont Farms Atoms journeyed to Ernestown for game three of their best of five series and came home 4 to 3 losers. Port got off to a gung- ho start at 4:18 of the first period when Mark Andrews attempted a pass out front from deep in the corner and hit the side of the Ernestown goalie and the puck dropped in much to everyone's surprise. With 1:23 left in the first period Dan Sluggett fired the puck off the board to clear the Port end and Jan Heyes pick- ed up the loose puck on the fly at centre ice and broke in free to fire it between the goalies pads to put Port ahead 2 to 1. At the midway point of the second period Port was buzzing the Ernestown zone when Mark Andrews picked up a rebound and scored from Jody Logan and Greg Fitzgerald and its 3 to 0 for Port. With 7:22 Dave Culbert and Bob Goble. After super fore- checking by Steve Dur- ham, he was able to score the fourth goal unassisted. Five minutes into the third period, the Goreski boys found themselves tied at four apiece. By the 6:57 mark of the 3rd period, - with a persistent effort from the boys, Bob Goble was able to find the net to score what proved to be the winner with the assistance of Dave Burnett and Rob Baker. With two minutes left in the game Dave "Burnett knocked in the insurance goal assisted by Chris Skura. Our defence unit of Scott Feasby, Brad Traves and Bob Goble played a strong game and Bill Eade tended goal in excellent fashion mak- ing many key saves. The All-Ontario finals will be played next Sun- day, April 1st in Port Perry at 6 P.M. with St. Mary's being the opposition. End of line for Atoms last seven minutes of the second period and went ahead 4 to 3 enter- ing the third. Neither team scored in the third period al- though there was plenty of action in the final period but it ended 4 to 3. Shawn Larocque tend- ed the mesh for Port and did a great job consid- ering the rubber he had fired at him. Ernestown is now up 2 games to 2 in the series. Knocked Out On Sat. March 24 the Malmont Atoms hosted Ernestown in game 4 of that series and were eliminated from further play when they were beaten 4 to 1 by the victors. As they did in the first three games Port opened the scoring in the game when Jan Heyes scored after some tic tac toe passing with Scott Menzies and Steve Laird. From then on it was all Ernestown with 4 unanswered goals, three of which were shorthanded. Cary Labiuk went the dis- tance in net and did a great job despite the score. The boys will now wrap up this year in a tournament in Oshawa March 31 - April 1 week- end.
