Wanda Gay- lord; 3. Niki Bardele- ben; 4. Bryan Beatty; 5. Mindy Kellow; 6. Chris Delong; 7. Esther Kelly; 8. Darryl Leath- erdale. It was a close compet- ition but Bryan Beatty placed first, speaking on Naval Disasters. Niki Bardeleben and Chris Delong tied for second Y prepping for spring With winter almost behind us, the Durham Region Family YMCA is prepping itself up for Spring. Starting in April, the Y.M.C.A. in Port Perry will be offering pro- grammes for all ages. Favourites such as My Timo, and Pee Wee Gymnastics will return, along with musical movement and Our Time for the pre schoolers. For the youth, pro- grammes such as Judo and Knitting will be offered. Our programmes are designed to be both practical and enjoyable. The adult courses will include Flower Arrang- ing, Home Gardening, Basic French Immersion and Musical Fitness. A Blackstock Lions contest was held the following Wednesday. The six contestants were: 1. Esther Kelly; 2. Sheri Bouillon; 3. Niki Bardeleben; 4. Chris Delong; 5. Chris Choro- stecki; 6. Joel Schryburt The winner was Niki Bardeleben and Joel Schryburt places second. Niki will con- tinue to Mt. Albert later in March to compete again. There was also a con- test in Sunderland where Bryan competed, but unfortunately not placing. A great performance was held at the Port Perry Legion. Four students entered from t. Joel Schry- burt, Leslie MacKenzie, Niki Bardeleben and Bryan Beatty. Joel and Bryan both placed third. Murray will be the guest speaker at the Uxbridge Baptist Church this coming Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Murray is the son of atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair who was a driving force in having prayer remoyed from the schools in the United States. In 1979, Mr. Murray renounced his atheism, became a Christian and is now president of Murray Faith Minis- tries in Dallas. The evening at Ux- Bridge Baptist Church is being hosted by Canadian evangelist Ken Campbell of Milton, Ontario. Photo contest The Kawartha Region Conservation Authority is hosting its 4th Annual Photography Contest, "Nature in the Kaw- arthas". This theme allows for ample variety and interpretation of natural subjects within the Kawartha Region. Contests in previous years have drawn an excellent response from a wide variety of amateur photographers throughout the area.
