This 3H ; 3 i: : z i wg £238 "Karate club kicks into second year The Wa-Do-Kai Karate Club of Port Perry is celebrating its first an- niversary this month, and instructor Rob Dods says the first year has been one of steady growth as there are now ~ 31 students enrolled in the classes. "I'm very proud of what the students are do- ing," he said. The Club has members ranging in age from six to 40, and women are starting to show a strong interest in the sport as about one-third of the current membership is female. integrated into the more advanced class as a group. The Club had more than one reason to celebrate its first an- niversary recently as Mr. Dods was awarded his first degree black belt at a karate club banquet in Newmarket on February 25th. Also at a Toronto tournament, club members brought home two medals on February 22.
