On Wednesday evening 19 ladies includ- ing guest June Haynes met at the home of Anne Alstein for the "head" UCw. Five members had attended the Oshawa Presbyterial during the day were so enthused with new ideas and information. - Myrtle Gimblett's 'group conducted the Devotional and a study on Ash Wednesday, Shove Tuesday and the . Lenten Season. Our attention was drawn to near . future activities and necessary committees appointed for the Easter Breakfast at the Island United - April 22 and the Art and Craft Show - for May 12 this year. Three demon- Strators have already been contacted. We try to get something differ- ent each year and would appreciate hearing about others. We "also wish to hear about dis- plays, plants, art or other interesting attrac- tions. The ladies have all been busy and turned in many crafts for sale, or for the flea table. Now, if the storms are under control we are looking forward to several March events. Blackstock and area (From page 9) play was chosen as - Happy Ending with Norma Jean Newbold as Director. 0.N.O. On Thursday, March ~ 8th the O.N.O. meeting was held at the home of Ellen Russell. Trivial Pursuit questions, while challenging weren't quite as interesting as last month. The Feb. minutes were read and approved followed by correspondence. Barb Byers gave the trea- surer's report and dis- tribued copies of the 1983 financial state- ment. Aileen reminded members that she has roll call sheets and 1983 0.N.O. coffee spoons for those who have not yet received them. Repairs are being made to some of the tables at the Recreation Centre. Nancy Bryans very kindly volunteered to purchase the gifts for the Nursing Home. Nancy, as past-pres- ident was presented with a gift of earings as a token of appreciation of a job well done. Aileen reports on the recent Bicentennial meeting. The steam train will run on Thanksgiving Monday and the weekend of Oct- ober 13th has been set aside for special cele- bration in Cartwright. A motion carried to donate $100.00 to the Hospital Auxiliary 'today's Spring Tea. It was brought to the attention of the meeting that the local Guiding Movement is in des- perate need of a District Commissioner. If any- one is interested or will- ing to take this position please call Miss 8S. Sheen. The roll call was to bring a school picture so we can guess who's who and this was very well answered. There was a lot of fun and many laughs trying to match faces with yesterday's pictures. Two other guessing games proved that every day articles can sometimes be difficult to recognize. Ellen served a delicious lunch and a social time was enjoyed. The April meeting will be held at the home of Carole . Chorostecki. Remember to wear an old hat.
