McMillan were recent guests of the Elmer Rennies in Sunderland." Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill attended the Annual "Safe Driving Award Banquet" on Saturday evening in Oshawa. Harry received a "24 year Safe Drivers' award. They have been honoured guests at every dinner for these 23 years. Congratulations Harry! We seem to only read in the papers of the bad drivers who cause such terrible accidents. Son Robert Hill par- ticipated in the Whipper Watson Snowarama in Haliburton recently sponsored by the Rotary Club. An enjoyable after- noon was spent last Wednesday by the meémbers of the Women's Institute. Helen McKean chaired the meeting in the absence of President Mrs. Iva Phoenix. For the roll call we were asked for a short family history. This proved both interesting and amusing to learn where our friends were born and have lived. During the business, beautify- ing Greenbank is to be our new project. For Valentine Day's an amusing poem "Just Like A Mom" was read. Donna Irvine gave a reading "My First Valentine" and Mildred Milne read "At Least He Doesn't Forget' telling of a gift received for Valentines Day - "A new chain saw and a sump pump"!! How Romantic. Donna's surprise for everyone was a beautiful display of flowers and baskets when each lady could make her own Valentine and take it home, this made on a huge red heart and laces. Muriel Gibson won the prize for a contest, naming articles found in the home. Everyone enjoy- ed a tasty lunch at the McKean's home. We are so happy to report Melissa Hooker came home from Oshawa Hospital on Monday. Suffering from a cold and the cramps she had a dangerous re- action to her prescribed medication. Dot and Roy and Dana really welcome Melissa home! Visiting the Hookers over the weekend was Miss Linda Lawson of Auction Sales SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25 SALE TIME: 11:00 A.M. Utica Hall Board meeting Sunday Utica & Area News by Vera Brown Church and Sunday School will be held in Epsom Church at 11:00 a.m. A reminder that this Friday is the pot luck supper at Epsom at 7 p.m. The entertainment to follow is still being kept in the dark, I guess the only way to find out what it's all about, is to attend. A pancake supper has been planned for March 6th, also at Epsom. There will be more . details on this later. At the church service this past Sunday, a ded- ication of candlesticks in memory of the late Mrs. Marion Harper, was made by the Session. I would be very negligent if I didn't mention just how much everyone enjoyed the flute selections by Miss Heather Bell and Miss Helen Hockley.
