Tops in public speaking Elaine Surnoski, Joy Vogel, Elizabeth Connell and John Connell were all winners in the recent - public speaking competi- tion at Immaculate Con- ception Catholic School. Elaine and Joy represented the school at the Regional Contest held at St. John the Evangelist on February 15. Elaine, whose topic dealt with endangered species, placed second. Elizabeth and John Connell, sister and brother, were voted top. speakers at 'the junior leveh of competition. Elizabeth's speech was all about her family tree and brother John talked about his love for the violin. Elizabeth also won se- cond prize for her poem in the recent literary con- test sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion. Gabrielle Ormerod plac- ed second with her poster. Some of the primary classes have used the hill at the high school for extra excite- ment. The senior classes spent an enjoyable after- noon bowling at Centen- nial Lanes. A skating party was attended by all students from Grades One to Eight, and we look forward to another one at the end of February.
