RT ETRE TRI RC - TT TS Rh mad a eA || These young skaters from the Port Perry Figure Skating Club will be competing in Oshawa, February 18th in the Annual Pine Ridge competitions against clubs from all over Durham Region. We wish them all good luck. Left to right- front: Chris McGill (pre-Juvenile and prel. dance); Meredith Allin (Preliminary); Angie Dowson (Juvenile); Michelle Stevens (pre-Juvenile and prel. dance); Vanessa Soreley (Preliminary); Sheri Dix- on (Preliminary and dance); Laura Sanderson 'B' Tweens come home empty by D. Loudfoot The Kinette C.O.R.L. "B" Tweens travelled to Ajax January 20 and 21 to participate in the Optimist Silver Ring Tournament. Our girls lost all four games to the opposition. The first game was against Ajax. his result- ed in a 42 loss. The game could have gone either way but many of the girl's shots either hit the post or went behind the goaltender and out the other side. Sherry Harris scored both goals with assists going to Jessica Fluke and Kim Loudfoot. In the other games against Woolwich and 2 games against London we lost 9-1, 9-0 and 6-0. Scoring the only goal in these games for Port Perry was Kim Loud- foot unassisted. In these last 3 games our girls were vastly overmatch- ed as both the London MoJacks into the playoffs (From page 18) solid defenseman Gord Rogers who's been out for several games with: a bad charley-horse; high scoring forward Bob Horton who is nurs- ing a back injury, and Marv MacNeil, recover- ing from an appendec- tomy. MacNeil, who saw some OHL action with Guelph this season played just two games for the MoJacks before the appendix attack. He's big and strong, likes the heavy going and could help the team if he gets back in action. John Fusco also miss- ed several games, but he's returning to form and that's good news for the MoJacks. Guys like Vaughn McKee, Scott Wallace, Jeff John- stone, Brian Mikkelsen" and Wayne Snodden have logged a lot of ice time recently and have played well. MoJacks beat Uxbridge three out of four games during the season, but the Bruins appear to be an improving club. Against Bowmanville, two of the games ended in a tie, and the Eagles won the other two by scores of 4-3 and 5-2. ARE YOU READY FOR RINGETTE WEEK! Let's work together to usher in an exciting season of Ringette, because ... Ringette is our Game! "COME & WATCH ... SUPPORT OUR GIRLS!" SCUGOG ARENA and Woolwich Teams come from areas of much higher population from which to choose players for their teams - a luxury Port Perry did not have. Unfortunately the scores do not reflect how hard the girls work- ed. The forward lines of Kim Caudle, Melissa Moehring, Colleen Yorke, Jen Pelow, Sherry Harris and Kim Loudfoot all tried their best. The defence of Gindy Harris, . Ann Fineh, Val White and Jessica Fluke also worked hard to set up the forwards to score NOTICE MINOR HOCKEY COACHES AND MANAGERS for the 1984-85 Hockey Season. Terry played goal in all 4 games and played par- ticularly well in games against Ajax and London stopping shot after shot. During Ringette Week, Feb. 5-12, our girls hope to play our sponsors - the Kinettes Feb. 5 at 12:30 p.m. Also during Ringette week our Kinette Tweens are fortunate to be travell- ing to Ottawa to partici- pate in a National Ring- ette Tournament FEE: $15.00 Port Perry Sportsland No.2 Bantam team went to Stirling for a tourna- ment on January 28, 1984 and came away with second place. This is a well run tournament with four Bantam teams and fdur midget teams. Our first game was against Oshawa, and we didn't quite make it as we lost 6-5. Ian Smith had two goals in this game and was voted the most valuable player. The other three goals were scored by Blair Phillips, Robbie Brown .and Jamie Menzies. Assists went to Jeff Oke, Robbie Jamieson, Blair Phillips, Steve Connors, Brian Dean and Warren Geer. Our second game was against the Sterling No. 2 Bantam team. We won this game by a score of 4-0. I was pleased to see a good effort on the part of our team as we meet this same team in the first round of our playoffs. Our passing, skating and shooting was very impressive compared to the Sterling team. Al- though there was no scoring in the first period, we dominated in all areas of play. At the 9:52 mark of the second period Warren Geer scored on a nice re- bound after Robbie . Brown took the initial SNOWMOBILE "in Stirling shot. Jamie Menzies scored at the 4:05 mark of the second from Blair Bailey. There was only 19 seconds left on the clock when Warren Geer scored from Blair Bailey. The final goal was scored by Blair Phillips from Jeff Oke. The forwards did a good job of back checking as did the defence who played tough in front of their own net. Warren Geer was selected the most valuable player of the game. The final game was again against Oshawa and we lost the game by a score of 6-3. Blair Phillips scored two goals in this game and was selected the most valuable player. The other goal was scored by Steve Connors on a beautiful slap shot from the blue line that caught the top corner. Assists went to Brian Dean with 2, lan Smith with 2, Blair Bailey and Jeff Oke with one each. A few player changes were tried in the final game with Brian Dean playing left wing and Jeff Oke switching places to add extra weight in the corner. The move seemed to work but our team appeared tired in the final and could not come up big and defeat Oshawa.
