Port's third game was against a strong Ernes- town club and Port got behind 5 to 0 before Dan Sluggett got Port's only tally from Mark Andrews but that was mid-way in the third period and Ernestown never let up and never stopped skating and one goal was all Port would get in this game. On Sunday Jan. 22, Port went on to the Con- solation semi-final and lost 2 to 1 to Royal York Rangers at the Mem- orial Centre. Port was simply out hustled in all aspects of the game and Royal York was just a lot hungrier for the win than Port. The kids and coaches were dis- appointed at a dismal effort in this game by Port but there's still a lot of hockey left so we'll have to pick our socks up and get back to business. Port's lone marker came from the stick of Dan Sluggett assisted by Mark Andrews. Saturday victories 8-4 over Peterborough and 6-3 over Warsaw put Port Perry in the "A" final on Sunday against Buckhorn Six Foot Bay. And what a final game it was, a fitting con- clusion to a fine tourna- ment. Six Foot Bay edged Port Perry 1-0, scoring with five minutes left in the game. Frantically try: ing to tie the game with the goaltender out in the last minute, Port was all over Buckhorn, but superb goaltending saved the shutout.
