Lake Scugog Lumber - 4 Swamp Garage - i Scugog looked like they were in trouble early in this game with only 7 players dressed and Swamp dominated in the early going with Joel Shryburt looking dangerous everytime he was on the ice. PEE WEE Two exciting games were played Thursday morning with both games ending in ties. The first game saw Scala Bros. and W. Frank battle to a 4-4 tie. In the 2nd game Lions Club fought back to gain a 5-5 tie with Wes Lane. ~ Scala-4 W. Frank -4 A much improved Scala team battled 1st place W. Frank to a 4-4 tie with both teams ex- changing goals through- out all 3 periods. Scala led 4-3 with less than 2 minutes left in the game and it seemed they would upset 1st place Frank. However, a defensive slip gave Frank's Mike Griffin a breakaway which he capitalized on by slipp- ing the rubber behind Scala's goaltender. A super effort by both teams. Big gun for Scala was Shawn Phillips with 2 goals and 2 assists, Alec Cranner 1 goal and Cole Perry picking up an assist. For W. Frank, Craig Lasky, Doug Adams, Chris Carr and Mike Griffin each notched singles. Picking up assists were John r-- -- fair amount of practise to learn how to expertly guide these craft around the sky. You don't want to have an accident as they cost upwards of $500, and the radio guidance system is worth another $600 or so. Happy Andrews with 3, Kenny Smart 2, and Doug Adams 1. Wes Lane -5 Lions Club -5 In Thursday's 2nd game desire and hard work paid off for the Lions. Down by a 5-1 score with 5 and one half minutes left in the 3rd period, Lions came back with 4 unanswered goals to earn 'a well deserved tie. To quote Yogi Beara, 'It's never over till it's over." Pat Muldoon led the scoring for Lane with 2 goals, with singles going to Paul Turner, Vince Criscione and Mike Butt. Scott White, Turner and Jason Par- sons each picked up an assist. For Lions Club, Marvin Hughes had a pair of goals and an assist, Adam Cummings 1 goal and 2 assists, Steve Diceman 1 goal, Mike Haines scoring the tying goal. Also picking up 'assists were Haines and Jamie Mabley with 1 each. Saturday, Dec. 31. "on the scoresheet, Saturday's two games seemed to be 1 sided affairs. Wes Lane put forth a strong effort to defeat Scala Bros. 5 to 0 and Lions Club out- hustled 1st place W. Frank for a 7-2 win. As of Saturday, Dec. 31, Wes Lane heads the league with 18 points, followed by W. Frank with 17. Lions Club holds 3rd place with 12 points and Scala in 4th with 5. Wes Lane -5 Scala Bros. - 0 Strong backchecking and good defense seem- ed to be Lane's game plan as Scala was thwarted time after time on good line rushes only to be checked at Lane's blueline. Lack of good shots and scoring opportunities led to Scala being blanked from the scoresheet. However, Scala should not be disappointed as they put forth a good effort. Lane's, however, took full advantage of their scoring chances by pocketing five behind Scala's goaltender. Gord Ireland recorded the shutout for Lane. Vince Criscione held the hot stick for Lane as he scored a hat trick. Scoring singles were Pat Muldoon and Mike Butt. Sharing in the scoring with assists were Jason Parsons, Scott White, Herb Hatch, and Pat Muldoon with 1 each. Lions Club - 7 W. Frank-2 It was quite obvious the Lions showed up to play hockey as they dominated a shocked W. Frank team with 6 straight goals before Frank replied early in the 3rd. After scoring two quick goals in the 1st, Lions just seemed to build momentum and never looked back. Being down by 4 goals after 1, Frank looked as though they! just could not get their act together. It's been said before, every team, has its bad games, and apparently it was Frank's turn. Leading the way for the Lions Club was Marvin Hughes with 3 goals and 1 assist, Lee Phillips with 2 goals, Steve Diceman 1 goal, 2 assists and Adam Cummings with 1 goal, 1 assist. For the W. Frank team it was Doug Adams with a goal and an assist and John Andrews with 1 goal. INTERESTED IN THIS SPACE FOR YOUR BUSINESS? Call the Star for Information: PHONE 985-7383 9 PARTICIPACTION ae a a
