Ware As the first month of school winds down, PPHS Athletes are coming on strong in Field Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, and volley- ball. On Sept. 27, the field hockey team competed against O'Neill Colli- gate and came up winners 2-0. Rhonda White is credited with both goals. She was assisted by Tish Lefort and Sarah Fogan. Con- gratulations and good- luck on Tuesday against Eastdale. Monday, Sept. 26 the midget and junior girls basketball teams tra- velled to Courtice Sec- ondary School for their season opener. After a hard fought game Port's juniors came out on top with the final score 50-46. High scorers were Sophia Brendon - 19 points, Lee-Ann Barclay - 15 points and Janice Jackman - 12 points. Port Perry's midget team played aggress- ively and came out on top with the final score 31-22. High scorer was B.J. Andrews scoring 22 points. Tuesday, Sept. 28, Port's midget junior and senior basketball teams hosted Central Colligate. The midgets came on strong and won a well deserved win. The final score was 26-8. Port's juniors were met with a surprisingly strong Central squad, but Port came on stronger and shut them down. The final score was 56-37. High scorers was Sophia Brendon with 22 points. Port's seniors competed with a very strong Central team. The seniors just couldn't close the gap. Nice try! Well two out of three ain't bad. (we'll get'em next time). The boys soccer teams have been on the war path in Oshawa. The seniors lost a 4-2 decision to Ajax. Port's junior team lost 1-0 to Ajax. Both soccer teams travelled to Dunbarton to meet strong Dunbar- ton squads. The seniors tied at 3 and the juniors lost 4-1 with Tim Cannon scoring the lone Port Perry goal. The next game was against And- erson. The seniors came on strong winning 4-1. Port's juniors played well with many shots on net that just wouldn't go in, the final score 2-1 in Anderson's favour Their next challenge was a home game against Harwood. Port's seniors blanked Har- wood 5-0. Goal scorers were Mark Butters - 2; Ray Woodcroft - 1; Darryl Musselman - 1: and Ken Huggins - 1. The juniors played well and came out on top 2-1. Tim Cannon scored both Port's goals. PPHS boys volleyball teams have also been busy. The junior and senior teams travelled to Ajax, the juniors won 3out of 4 games, and the seniors lost 3 games. Their next feat was Dunbarton where the Port seniors won 3 games but it just wasn't enough, Dunbarton won 4 games. The juniors lost close games to a strong Dunbarton team.
