The Scouting in Cart- wright will begin the week of September 19. Beavers meet at the Caesarea Hall on Thurs- day evenings at 6:30- 7:30 pm. Cubs meet at the Caesarea Hall. on Monday evenings 7:00- 8:30 p.m. Scouts meet at the North Nestleton Scout Hall, Mondays at 7:00-8:30 p.m. Addition- al leaders are required for all groups. Families in the News Doris Nottingham, Caesarea, was hostess for a "hobo tea" held at her home in Caesarea on Thursday afternoon for Blue Ray Chapter members to raise funds for the Worthy Matron's special project - the Port Perry Hospital. A great afternoon of visit- hat. ing for approx. twenty sisters. Minnie Fisher, Caes- area, and Helen Wilkin- son, Port Perry, have just returned from a 15 day bus trip to the East Coast - taking in points of interest throughout Quebec, New Bruns- wick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island - then crossing over Lake Champlain to U.S.A. with many more interesting places to see there as well - the last being Lake Placid before returning home- ward. They had enjoy- able entertainment and good meals on the trip - in all - a fine trip to take! Ruth Davidge, Will- iams Point, Doris Nott- ingham and Minnie Fisher of Caesarea went by bus to the Quilt Show held in the Barrie Museum on Friday last - the trip being sponsored by the Louise Patterson Handicraft Guild, Port Perry. Although the weather wasn't ideal - they had a most interesting, enjoyable sday. Nestleton United Church Women Eleven members were present at the Sept. meeting held at the home of President, Bernice Mairs. Opening with a hymn - followed by two poems by the President and a cordial welcome to all. Jean Williams led the combined devotional and study topic entitled "Our Father's Garden'. After a hymn and the Scriptures reading - each person was given a reading about a flower as it relates to our personalities and refer- ences in the Bible. As each flower was named Jean placed that flower in a vase. A very impressive study! Minutes were approved as read by Sec"y Barbara Weir, correspondence was taken care of and Treas. report was given by Jean Williams showing a good balance on hand. During business a report of the fabric to be purchased for table cloths was given by Jean, and a motion was made that a committee composed of Jean Will- iams and Ruth Davidge purchase the material for 10 table cloths. The special meeting for Oct- ober was discussed at some length. Bernice advised that the piano had been tuned. Meeting closed with Benediction. Refreshments were served by Gwen Malcolm and Jean Will- iams. Courtesy was extended by Barbara Weir to those in charge of meeting, refresh- ments, and Bernice for having the meeting. Bernice provided enter- tainment during the social hour. Try to attend! Church News With an excellent con- gregation the 138th anniversary of Cadmus Presbyterian Church, Nestleton, celebrated with the Rev. James Gilchrist, Bowmanville, as the guest speaker. He was accompanied by Mrs. Gilchrist and daughter Mary Anne. His text was taken from Luke 5: I-II using the theme - "Launch out into the deep" a most thought provoking message - appreciated by the congregation. During the service Mr. Frank Stacey, Ponty- pool, was the guest soloist and sang "How Great Thous Art" and "Down from His glory'. During the offertory the choir with Mr. Stacey and Rev. Fred Swann sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness' - much appreciated by all. Following the service a delicious lunch was served by the Ladies' Aid. Service next Sun- day at 10 a.m. Mr. Martin Moback, Toronto, spoke at the Caesarea Community Church using as his topic - "The Word of God and what it means to us". Scripture -Isaish 53 and St. Luke 4: 16-30. Jacqueline McDermott, Scugog Island, provided the music playing her guitar. A very good congregation. Next Sun- day at 11 a.m. Try to support the guest speakers with your presence. At the Nestleton United Church we were glad to welcome back the Sunday School teachers and pupils. Sunday School Superin- tendent Robert Mairs spoke briefly and intro- duced the staff for the coming year. Rev. Dale Davis' sermon was entitled "Stewardship: of God and Mammon" - on the Ventures in Mission 'theme. Mrs. Ralph Sadler ~ was inducted as an Elder, during the Service. Special music was given by Heather Alison, Kingsley and Joshau Malcolm a very lively enjoyable rendition of two action songs. A very good beginning for the Church year. The list of Nestleton Sunday School teachers for the coming year as follows: Superintendent - Robert Mairs. Nursery - Muriel Simms, Joanne Mal- colm and Arlene Mal- colm. Primary - Arlene Davis and Nancy Mal- colm. Junior - Janice MacKenzie and Bar- bara Weir. Senior - Neta Fish. Teens - Carol Mairs. Dorothy and Ray Car- son, New Liskeard, were down to Nestleton one weekend recently to visit her parents George and Ella Bowers and other relatives within the area. They called on Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson in Black- stock and a family dinner was enjoyed at the home of her sister, Mrs. Helen Vine - before returning home to New Liskeard. . Annual Reunion was held at Nestleton Community Centre on Sunday. Although weather was not ideal a very enjoyable time was had by all the relatives present. Sorry to learn of the death of Mr. Wilfred Wilson, Omemee, a former resident of Cart- wright some years ago. Sympathy is extended to the family and many friends.
