Service but by Sat. night the freakish weather changed and brought bad roads and question- able travel. However, under the circum- stances, the breakfast was quite well attended and enjoyed and many more arrived for the Service. The '"Head" U.C.W. will meet to-night April 6 at the home of Mrs. Jan Gerroy. Don't for- get craft and flea items. For last Wednesday evening, many people have wonderful mem- ories of a fine social time at the Island Hall when the "Grace" U.C.W. sponsored a sumptuous beef supper. We started our Easter weekend very well with 5 Year Annual Interest a lovely Maundy Thurs- day Church Service at the Manchester United Church when there was a good attendance. Man- chester is to be congrat- ulated on the fine choir they have organized from their own congreg- ation. There was a simple, meaningful decoration on the Communion table. Then Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mark of Port Perry never forget to send an Easter lily in memory of Mrs. Mark's sister, the late Edna McLaren. They could not be present, as Mr. Mark has recently spent time in a Toronto Hos- pital and now in the Port Perry Hospital. The Service presented several Easter hymns and songs by the S.S and the Jr. and Sr. choirs. We are pleased to welcome 3 new members in the choir and wish to thank the 3 visitors for helping out. It certainly was a real family day. Miss McLean used, '"The coming of Easter Morn" as a text for her sermon and gave per- sonal reference to her visit to the empty tomb and its effect upon the visiting tourists. This is an invitation for family and friends to share the moment for which the girls have worked so hard. In the past 2 months, Island residents or associates who have passed away have been remembered by don- ations to the Island United Church Mem- orial Fund, thro' which their memory will live on. This is much apprec- iated by all. Miss B. McLean's mother is still in the Ajax hospital. We hope she will recover without surgery.
