Pearce Auctioneers met the Stouffville Clippers. The play was fast and furious with Shawn Larocque making fine saves throughout the game. Stouffville took the lead at the 5:52 mark of the first and it wasn't until 3:18 of the final period that the Auction- eers tied it up. Gavin Cochrane made the pass up to Jeff Parry for a breakaway. Parry made no mistake on beating the Clipper goalie. Thirteen seconds later Stouffville beat Larocque on the short side to win the game 2-1. Stouffville is now in first place with the Auctioneers just one point behind them. On Sat. Feb. 26, the Auctioneers played in the Little N.H.L. Tour- nament at the Civic Auditorium. In their first game, the Auctioneers were pitted against the Oshawa Black Hawks. The Hawks were first to score but minutes later Jason Cochrane, un- assisted tied it up. At the 8:31 mark of the third, Duane Emperingham assisted by Gavin Cochrane and Jody Logan put the Auctioneers ahead. The Hawks came back with two more goals to again take the lead. With 43 seconds left in regu- lation time, Jeff Parry assisted by Jason Coch- rane and Jody Logan made it a 3-3 game. A five minute over- time period was played with neither team being able to score. The win was awarded to the Black Hawks for scoring the first goal of the game. With this ill- fated loss, the Auction- eers now advanced to 'the Consolation Rounds meeting Little Britain first. Shawn Larocque re- corded an easy shutout when the Auctioneers defeated the weaker Little Britain team 7-0. Jeff Parry got the drop at the faceoff, deked the defencemen and slipped one under the goalie to start the scoring. Kevin Brown scored the next one on a pass in front of the net from Duane Emperingham. Two more goals were added in the sécond period. Jason ane picked up a rebound from Jason McBride and Stephen Laird. Jody Logan made it 4-0 on a good pass from Jeff Parry. In the last three min- utes of play, the Auctioneers recorded three more goals to bring their total to seven. Scoring for Port were Jason Cochrane assisted by Stephen Laird; Jody Logan assisted by Jeff Parry and the last one by Jeff Parry unassist Their final game for the Consolation y was played against the Oshawa Canadians. Templeman. Petites hand Whitby a loss On Sunday, Feb. 27 the Brutons I.D.A. Petites went to the Brooklin arena to play the Whitby WLCA team and came home with a 9-5 win. Jenny Blan- chard opened the scoring, within a few seconds of the opening whistle, on a nice pass from Brenda Poirier. This goal earned Jenny the game ring as she has scored 50 goals this sea- son. Congratulations Jenny!! Just a little over a minute later, 'Jenny scored again from Kelly Calloway and Kim Caudle. Late in the first shift Kelly scored unassisted. Whitby came back with 2 goals before Jenny from Kelly; Jenny from Kelly and Michelle Beare; and Misty Andrews unassisted all found the mark. These three goals were scored while we were short- handed. Nice work girls! In the second period, Michelle from Jenny and Kelly scored. Whitby also scored once during this period." Whitby scored again in the third period before Melissa Moehring from Kerri Allen found the mark twice. Nicky Beare made some good saves while between the pipes. All girls played well for this game. This win advances us to within 1 game of meeting a team from the northern loop to. decide 1st place in the league. But we must win the next game first. We play in the Hastings tournament on Sat. On the next one Cochrane pass- ed to Laird at the point who made the pass to Jason McBride for the goal. The final marker was scored by Jason Cochrane assisted by McBride and Laird. The Consolation Trophy was presented to Shawn Larocque on behalf of his team and each player received a smaller trophy. Jeff Parry won the Most Valuable Player Award for his tremendous effort throughout the tournament. Congratu- latiions to Jeff and to the , rest of the team Atoms win by Score of 2-0 On Saturday after- noon the Malmont Farm Atoms were hosted .by Uxbridge for another game in their Round Robin Series. The Green Machines defeated Ux- bridge by a score of 2-0. The first period re- mained scoreless until the 1:09 mark. Uxbridge had two men in the pen- alty box when Port scored their first. A passing play from Danny Maw and Jarrett Harmon resulted in a goal by Jeff Mills. Clair Cornish scored the only goal in the 2nd period. This goal came at the 2:31 mark with goaltender Ryan La- Rocca earning the assist. As in the first two periods, Uxbridge con- tinued to play extremely well making the Green Machines sweat to keep the win. Outstanding goaltending by Ryan LaRocca kept Uxbridge off the score board, earning Ryan a well de- served shut-out. The Malmont Farm Atoms have one more game to play in the Round Robin Series before going on to the - play-off 'series against Uxbridge. This game will be played in Port against Port Hope.
