The teams from the Port Perry Club record- ed the highest total points and won a beautiful plaque donated by the Boundy family of Port Hope. This is the first time the Port Perry Club has won the team total points. Individually, there were three golds and seven 'medals won by club members. In the Mixed preliminary dance category, Sheryl Gibson and Cary Dowson won gold medals, and Cary Dowson won a gold in the Bronze Interpretive category. Officials with the Port Perry Club were ex- tremely pleased with the showing ~~ by the youngsters at Port Hope competitions. Well, as a team, they won the points competition at the recent Pine Ridge Figure Skating competitions held in Port Hope. The score of 8-1 might indicate a one sided effort, but this was not the case. The Legion Pee Wee A's and Ernes- town are both excellent skating teams, fortun- ately Stacey Ballingall outstanding * was tested often, some- times with three and four shots in succession. Well executed passing plays resulted in most of Ports goals, as few pen- alties were taken by both clubs. Ernestown took 4 © advantage of Ports in- ability to clear the puck from their own end to, open the scoring at the 11:16 mark; John Lally picking up a loose puck along the boards evened the score with an un- assisted goal. Mark Barkey carrying the puck into the opposition end, deked Laughton for the second goal of the period. With only 1:36 remaining the third goal ' Laughton. resulted from a passing play from Mark Barkey to John Lally with Brad Traves also picking up "an assist. Port connected in the second for four more, John Lally scored his hat trick assisted by Scott Feasby, Mike Sorley and Brad Men- zies each earned an assist on a goal by Warren Geer. At the :04 mark John Lally red his fourth of the game after taking a pass from Jark Barkey and Brad Menzies. Laughton never had a chance on the next goal by Scott Feasby from just inside the blueline after Brad Menzies woh that all important face- off. The 8th and final goal in the opening seconds of the third was popped in by Brad Men- zies after putting a nifty deke on goalie The next two games in this series will be played in Port Perry on Sat.
