Thanks teachers for being such good sports. The Sportsland Juniors rounded off Ringette week by host- ing a team from Mark- ham. This is the first year Markham has had ring- ette but the girls showed great promise and a good game was played by both teams. The score was 5-4 for the Sportsland girls. Naat Ary FH EOF A 3 0% 90 25% te SE Heather scored three and Dawn two with assists going to Susan, Tracy, Laurie, Natalie, Lori-Ann and Cheri. Donna played a good game in net. The Sportsland team will be competing in the Mariposa Tournament at Oakwood Arena on Feb. 19 and 20th. Good luck girls. Debs sparkle in easy 9-2 exhibition victory On Sunday, Feb. 6, the Port Perry Debs took on an Oldtimers team of fathers and coaches. The girls were able to dazzle them and beat them by a score of 9-2. The Oldtimers found the girls were skating by them and had the ring before they knew what was happening! Bonnie Bridge opened the scoring followed by Sherri Allen and then Janice Jackman from Sharon Ashmore. The men were able to get one past Sam Heurkins in the first period. This was done by Ted Blan- chard. Cheryl, why were you hanging up- side down in front of the men's bench? Scoring for the Debs in the second period were Rhonda White from Michelle Andrews; Michelle from Rhonda; Cheryl Doherty unassisted; Daphne Butt from Sherri; Daphne from Sharon and Janice from Bonnie. Scoring for the men was done by Ken Little. There was a third goal scored although there were two rings on the ice. Could that be the reason this goal wasn't counted? The men rec- eived quite a few pen- alties and I'm sure they will agree that this game is quite different from that other ice sport. A special thanks to Heather Muir for stepping in at the last moment as the Old- timers goaltender. Also thanks to Jeannie, Val and Archie for coaching two fine teams. Hope you're O.K. Sherri. I did hear both sides want a rematch. Are . you up to it fellas. Be prepared for a few tricks from the Debs! Thanks to both teams of Sam, Bonnie, 2 Michelles, Sharon, Jodi, Allyson, Wendy, Sherri, Daphne, Janice, Cheryl, Rhonda, Ralph, Paul, Tom, John, Ted, Barry Ken, Doug, Rick, Jim, Fred and Mark for giving us such a good game to watch.
