Our unit will be in charge of lunch for the General Meeting on Jan. 26 at 1:30. A discussion was held concerning the making of a crib quilt in the near future. Handicraft Guild meet The members of the Guild met for a tatting workshop on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Margaret Cornish, Beryl Espley and Ruth Heayn per- formed a great feat in en- their hands in this antique craft. Tatting is the most frustrating craft to learn and is usually taught in a one-to- one situation. This time, the three teachers managed to get a group of about 20 novices through the basic mo- tions and started on the way to being comfortable with it. There was enough en- thusiasm left, despite the frustrations, for them to re- quest that the tatting be con- tinued at the meeting in February. So bring your shut- tles and coarse thread to the Birthday meeting and learn how to do chains and motifs. The business meeting was short and to the point. Dorothy Naples took the chair, since Jo Dowson was sick. It is expected that the annual show will be held April 15 and 16, being open to the public on the Friday evening as well as Saturday as hap- pened last year. The dates have to be confirmed by the next meeting." The February meeting will start at 10 a.m. with lunch at noon followed by the Birthday cake for desert. The meeting ended at 1:30 but members stayed on to struggle with the tatting some more. DIABETES MEETING The Durham Region branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association will be holding a general meeting on Wednesday, January 26, star- ting at 7:15 p.m. The meeting will be held at Anderson Collegiate, 400 Anderson St., in Whitby, and there will be a demonstration of diabetic products.
